Highway Commission to Call for Bids on Myrtle Point Fairview Bridge
The Oregon State Highway Commission will seek bids October 13 1959 at Salem for a reinforced concrete Myrtle Point Fairview road bridge over Middle Creek near McKinley. The 110 foot long structure will have a 24 foot clear roadway with Coos county constructing and surfacing approach fills. The contractor will remove the old bridge after traffic shifts to the new span with completion set for the following summer.

Delbert Burns Steele 45 of Eugene formerly of Myrtle Point died at a San Francisco hospital after a lingering liver illness. He lived with his mother Mrs Cars Steele in Eugene after moving from Myrtle Point 35 years ago. Funeral services were held in Eugene at Simons-Lounsbury Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Swenson officiating. Interment followed in a Eugene cemetery. Survivors include his mother Mrs Cora Steele sister Mrs Bearrier Albany uncle Robert Burns and grandmother Mrs Mats Burns of Coquille.

Man Seriously Injured From Fall at Norway Veneer Plant
Wilfred Edwardson of Royal Carter Rolling Co. in Coos Bay was seriously injured last Friday about 10 a.m. when he fell from the roof of the Norply veneer plant in Norway. He suffered a multiple skull fracture and both arms broken and was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene in critical condition. He was working making repairs on the roof.

Myrtle Point residents set a high turnout for the Red Cross bloodmobile at Myrtle Crest school gym. Co chairwoman Mrs Charles Humble and Bob Hogan oversaw as 69 pints were donated from 75 donors with nine deferments. four donors reached two gallons and others hit one gallon. A large team of workers and Rainbow Girls supported the drive with admissions, canteen service, and posters for the event.
