Baker Wins Heisman Trophy For 1962 Football
Southpaw Terry Baker of Oregon State, leader in total offense, was named the 1962 Heisman Memorial Trophy winner with 707 points in national voting by writers and broadcasters. LSU halfback Jerry Stovall and Minnesota tackle Bob Bell trailed with 618 and 429 points respectively. Thanksgiving weekend traffic toll reaches record high
At least 506 persons died in traffic accidents during the four day Thanksgiving weekend. The toll was the holiday’s highest in years, with 48 fire deaths and 150 other accident fatalities including plane crashes. Total deaths in all accidents reached 703, the highest in five years.
