Myrtle Point Boys Win Judging Honors At Poultry Show
Myrtle Point ag students led by Howard Leatherman Vernon Hendershott and Charles Hendershott competed at the Bawden Poultry Show last Saturday. Cove River won team honors with 1678 points while Bandon and Coquille 4-H followed. Vernon Trigg finished seventh and Hendershott eighth among 35 judges. After judging the group toured the Bandon Coast Guard station with Captain Goodman.

Lynn Cooper of Myrtle Point passed the final examination in Portland and enlisted on November 21 for four years. He departs for San Diego for a three month training before assignment to a Pacific vessel. He seeks duty on the same ship as Gail Lawson of Casmas Valley, who enlisted in October. Vacancies exist on all ships and Medford reports opportunities for first enlistment with the navy.
