Marshfield residents are listed in multiple marriage entries including Keowee Deeley and others. Couples such as Harold Sanders and Hensieth Morris wed, while or in Marshfield Willis Wilder officiated. A license was issued to Jack Thermas and Irene Meehan, and Royal Milton McGriff wed Mary Helen Limnell in Eastside.
The Elgin Social Club and the V. F. will hold a Thanksgiving dance in the Veterans' half on Thursday night November 29. Splendid music by the Veterans Orchestra and a good time are promised with prices advancing.
Walter Huff uncovered a 19th century pencil marked board during demolition on Spruce and Second streets. The inscription shows a cornerstone date of March 1804 and ties to A. H. Bender of Norway whose cousin Louis Bender from Baltimore helped build local houses. Louis recounted Myrtle duck hunting near the old slough by Coos County Fair Grounds.
The Myrtle Point city band will meet for practice next Tuesday evening in the VFW hall under the direction of Edward A Huebner following its strong Armistice Day parade showing.
Mrs Mary Hoover of Myrtle Point married Frank Sinko Jr of Arago in a noon ceremony at the Turner MacDonald home West Norway. MacDonald officiated. reception attended by Mrs MacDonald and Mrs Wendell Robinson. The couple plans a honeymoon to the north then to the Sinko ranch on Fishtrap.
The Woman's club placed cedar signs with black lettering at key intersections around Powers. Signs name streets from south of the Morria ranch through North Powers in alphabetical order, improving town appearance and directing visitors.
The Methodist Ladies Aid met at Mrs L A LaFlamme’s home with good attendance. Plans were completed for a bazaar on December 14 with a chicken dinner to follow. A evening play directed by Mrs O H Clarke will provide musical entertainment.
Gordon Fetters 18 was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing gasoline and faced a petit larceny charge Monday before Justice E A Doege. He received a six month sentence with five months suspended for good behavior. Harry Wilson was jailed Saturday for stealing gasoline from the AM Christensen car and faces juvenile court hearing Friday. An automobile owned by William Monroe of New York was stolen from Spruce street and abandoned a few blocks away on Seventh street.
Telegrams from Seattle chrome buyers urge Coos Bay region miners to organize for shipping 280 tons with Japan a 12 million ton order horizon. Local producers may ship 10 000 tons monthly and must meet high chromic acid content. Wary of capital limits, miners seek funding to act quickly or lose the deal to California deposits.
Local authorities follow new leads in the Dick's pool room burglary committed between 2:30 and 3 am. Night Patrolman Waymire notes the store was dark at 3 as the proprietor Dick Arnold was away. Investigators suspect local men. five cartons of cigarettes and 45 dollars were stolen.
The Recreational Leaders Club met at Coquille with attendees from Myrtle Point and Norway. Under Gertrude Show from Oregon State College Extension, the group will hold a December 10 meeting in the WoW hall to learn casting a play and advancing community works.
Robbery at a Hamm cafe occurred overnight Wednesday with cigarettes candy and possibly beer stolen. Two quarts of beer were found behind the building along with a removed screen from a kitchen window. Entry came through the coal bin as investigators pursue several leads with no arrests yet.
The Orange meeting in Schroeder hall elected officers for the coming year led by Master Frank Southmayd. Joint installation is set for December 15 in Schroeder hall with Arthur Brown and refreshments to follow.
Miss Gertrude Sick aged 30 in home economics was appointed to the California Dairy Council with headquarters at Watsonville California. She previously taught home economics at Myrtle Point High School for three years starting in the fall of 1930.
A stage driven by Joe Leggett overturned near Bakers Creek about three miles north of Powers on Monday morning. Three passengers were injured, with one caped injury reported. The Herald notes this is Leggett’s first accident after many years driving the Powers road.
The Union High School board held its regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening with the directors wives invited. They shared needlework and socialized after the business session, followed by refreshments. Attendees included Mr and Mrs C True, Mr and Mrs Henry Hervey, Mr and Mrs A H Bender, Mr and Mrs H Bones, Mr and Mrs Paul Breuer, Mr and Mrs L P Linn, Mr and Mrs Edwin Schroeder, Mrs Mabel Barklow, and Miss Helen Vincent.
Mayor Ralph D. Kring and council members Breuer Barker McNair and Hermann attended the regular city council meeting Monday evening. Only routine matters were discussed.

Tuesday evening at the studio Mrs O H Clarke presented a group of piano students in a recital. The performers included Marjorie Van Alstein Dorothy Bennett Wendell Hall Fay Johnson Patty Jo Druliner Eleanor Gurney Dorothy Bender Madge Nelson and Ruth Wallace. A second group will be presented in a few weeks.
Nominations for the coming year's officers were made at the Coos County Chamber of Commerce session at the Coquille hotel. Bob Stewart of Coquille was nominated president, Jesse Clinton of Myrtle Point vice president, and Alan Young of Coquille treasurer. A committee of Henry Kern, Gene Norton, and Jesse Clinton was set to promote advertising for Coos county. Ed Miller was named Southwestern Oregon representative to the settlement advisory committee, and George Jenkins spoke on the proposed Oregon settlement.

Oregon's exclusive Poultry show begins in Bandon Friday as the fifth annual event with record entries and extra wire coop capacity. Birds from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles compete with Bandon prizes at state fair and Portland Pacific International Exposition. Chamber of Commerce sponsors, judge L Welsenborn of Portland, show tied to American Poultry Association. A benefit dance at Silver Spray Gardens aids financing. show runs all day Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. S Reid and Mrs. George Hermann returned Tuesday after a weeklong trip that stretched to Olympia Washington They traveled from Myrtle Point to Albany visiting Leander Smith and Bonn ie Crawford They attended the funeral of Emma Johnson in Portland and dined with Reed's sister Before a Hillsboro stop Reed joined the group and they continued to Olympia with meals at Howard and P A Michaels homes and visits to E J Michaels and J B Secrist homes The party noted summerlike weather during their two days in Olympia
