Dayton promoted to colonel in U S Air Force
Lieutenant Colonel Roy D. Dayton of Myrtle Point Oregon has been selected for promotion to colonel. He serves in the executive office at Webb AFB Texas with Air Training Command and was commissioned in 1954. Wooldridge Scholarship Created For Myrtle Point Grads
A provision in the late Alice H. Wooldridge's will creates a 200 scholarship fund at Southwestern Oregon Community College for Myrtle Point High School graduates. The fund will award thirteen 400 scholarships over 13 years to eligible graduates attending SWOCC. Wooldridge, a Myrtle Point resident for 47 years, was active in local education and genealogy groups and authored regional works.

New Activity Program Begins at Myrtle Point Nursing Home
A new activity program titled Something for Everyone starts at Myrtle Point Nursing Home to provide residents with at least 30 minutes of varied daily activity in the TV room. Volunteers will expand offerings by individual interest, with past activities including Hawaii slides, movies, bingo, piano music, and upcoming musical and puppet presentations as local residents contribute time and resources.
