Spaghetti Feed By Myrtle Point NHS Friday Benefit
The Myrtle Point High School National Honor Society hosts a spaghetti feed this Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria to raise funds for a San Francisco educational trip. NHS has 32 members with GPA 3.20 or higher and advisors Fern Starr. The event also features entertainment by New Vibrations and a Bobcats basketball game versus Powers, with tickets priced at adults 2 dollars, children 1.26 dollars, and family tickets 36 dollars.

Boy 17 crushed to death in garage mishap
William Guy Coe a seventeen year old Myrtle Point youth was killed when a car slipped from a bumper jack and fell on him in the family garage off View Street He was under the car for hours before a wrecker freed him and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Coquille Valley Hospital Myrtle Point Ambulance carried him to the hospital and he died shortly after arrival.

Early Registration Week At SWOCC Sets Winter Term Times
Southwestern Oregon Community College designates December 9 to 13 as early registration week. Students may register and pay tuition in Tioga Hall fourth floor lounge with specific daily hours. Financial aid help is available in Dellwood Hall. Formal registration is January 6 in Lower Prosper Hall with alphabetical time slots, followed by Jan 7 to 10 followup in Tioga Hall.

Santa Claus to Appear In Myrtle Point This Saturday
Santa will visit in front of the Security Bank building on Dec 7 to greet children and hand out candy. The event is organized by the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce Retail Trade Committee with further appearances on Dec 14 and 21. Drawings for prize giveaways include a microwave oven and gift certificates donated by the chamber, with tickets available through Dec 20 and drawings Dec 21 at 11 am 2 pm and 4 pm. Street decorations are illuminated this year by the Myrtle Point Fire Department.

Funeral services for John David Carl 93 of Arago and Coquille Valley pioneer were held after his death November 26 in North Bend. He served as Coos County commissioner and was active in the Arago Community Church Rotary Club and Coos County Fair. Survived by sons Kenneth and Herbert and five grandchildren.
