Myrtle Point reader Gail Baker prompted this column to explain Oregon angling laws on daily bag limits and tagging. Long fish over 20 inches must be tagged when landed. two fish per bag, with a special jack salmon season Oct 11 to Nov 15. winter regs Oct 11 1954 to Feb 28 1955.

Henry Spargo of Coos Bay will attend a three day lighting training session conducted by Pacific Power and Light Company at its Portland headquarters. The session features J M Ketch from Nela Park and focuses on modern lighting for homes farms businesses and industries.
At the Coquille Valley Golf and Country Club a social Fall Tournament dinner-dance celebrated champions and runners up across flights. Bill Downing presided as toastmaster while George Linn, Spenny Ross, Johnny Vannice and Louise Carver provided a lively floor show. Buck Elliott and staff served a family style ham dinner.
Stella Irene Adams 17 of Arago and Myrtle Point dies Thursday November 8 at Mast hospital from hypoplastic anemia. A Myrtle Point High senior daughter of Alvin and Mrs Adams, she was born May 12 1937 in Orland California. Funeral Monday at First Methodist Church Myrtle Point.
Members of the Cares Counts Fair board will travel to Portland for the 27th annual Oregon Fair Association meeting at the Multnomah hotel November 29 to December 1. Attending from here are Mr and Mrs Harold Clarno and others, with Mr George Jenkins of Coquille on the speaking program and discussions on county fair dates and officer elections.
Myrtle Point Used Car Co at 212 Spruce Street invites the public to an open house on Thursday December 2 to celebrate taking over the 1955 Mercury and to announce a name change to Family Motors. The event runs 9 AM to 10 PM with prizes refreshments and test drives.
Vern Stout of Myrtle Point Oregon has been appointed a national aide de camp in the Veterans of Foreign Wars by Commander-in-Chief Merton B Tice. The 56 year old organization of 1,250 000 veterans announced the honor at VFW headquarters as recognition of Stout's outstanding service to the VFW in membership and other fields.
Myrtle Point High School offers a beginning shop work course for farmers. It includes basic arc welding and acetylene welding, plus care and sharpening of hand tools. First class Thursday December 2 at 8:00 p.m. and will run at least 11 meetings of three hours each. An adult drivers training course was approved by the school board on November 17 with plans to be available next week.
Fire Chief John Fellner and Mitch Myers attended the State Firemen's Association meeting held at North Bend last Friday evening. Firemen gathered for a program by a state fire pump instructor on how to maintain and keep fire water pumps in best condition.

Fisher Elton will represent the local group with one of them traveling from Roseburg by plane November 28 to Las Vegas for the events.
