Christmas Opening Begins Saturday

Myrtle Point, Nov 26 Santa Oscar F. Weed Area Manager of Weyerhaeuser Company announced All egany and Dellwoed rames will be open for elk hunters Thursday and Friday November 24 and 25. This is the first time in years the season runs through Thanksgiving. Logging halted Thursday and Friday, allowing access to operating areas. The Agony Ridge gate will remain closed.

Bridge Family Burns in Ames Home Explosion

A house explosion in Ames last week injured Mr and Mrs Ames and their daughter Julia while a wool garment and gasoline near a hot water tank sparked the blaze. Neighbors, including Jesse Belcher, helped extinguish the fire with only minor damages reported.

Police Search for Missing Couple Near Elk Creek

Late Monday a pickup owned by Victor and Helen Lopez was recovered from the river near Elk Creek five miles south of Powers. Police search the river for two bodies believed to be the missing couple, parents of five.
