Educational leaders announce a poultry show with eggs and fowls, featuring awards for chickens ducks geese turkeys and ornamental fowls. Professor A G Laan will speak December 3 and entries close November 9 with a small fee for all poultry entries. Exhibits must arrive by 1 00 pm December 2 at the grounds.
Myrtle Point city council approved the budget and an ordinance for the next year. Citizens urged sidewalk changes while most supported deferring new walks until spring due to business conditions and potential frost damage.
Friends of Mr and Mrs George Dickinson gathered to observe their wedding anniversary with a progressive cootie game. Mrs Dickinson served lunch. Guests included Mr and Mrs E C Barker, Mr and Mrs Paul Breuer, Mr and Mrs Henry Schroeder, Roy and E V Ostrander, Mr and Mrs E Hamilton, and Mr and Mrs Elmer Russell.
Weedman and John King of Myrtle Point were arrested Saturday by county deputies on liquor selling charges. They appeared before a Coquille justice, with Weedman fined 300 dollars and King 250 dollars. Both remain serving time in the county jail.
The Presbyterian church ladies invite a bazaar and supper tomorrow at Schroeder's hall. The sale opens at two o'clock with a fine display of Christmas crafts. A fish pond post office and candy booth are planned, with dinners served from 6 80 to 50 cents.
Little Betty Roberts fractured her collar bone after a fall last Friday. This marks the third time the same accident has occurred to her. She is recovering and hopes to remove the arm bandage by Thanksgiving dinner.
Rochester N Y November 19 The national Grange meeting chose Wisconsin as the 1981 site with most sessions in Milwaukee Oregon State Grange Master Chas O Hulet spoke over radio to 44 states He was asked by Senator Charles McNary to join national farm leaders for a farm relief conference He will be in New York City this weekend and Washington DC next week.
In Coquille circuit court the cases Glaysier vs Hale and State of Oregon vs Hassler are heard. Hale, former county agent, allegedly assaulted Dr Glaysier causing fractures and weeks of bed rest. Hassler, publisher of Cool Country Courier, faces a criminal charge over publishing a false pattern against Frank Ormond during sheriff nomination.
A charity ball organized by the Moose Lodge will be held at the armory on November 29. Music by Hegbergh's orchestra. Proceeds fund Mossheart home in Illinois for Moose members and families. City Recorder BE A Dodge reports a state college band plans Chicago trip with the football team, meeting rooters in Green River. Austin Dodge is band manager.
Local basketball fans will see the season open in the junior high gym as Myrtle Point hosts Powers in a close matchup. The 8 o clock tipoff follows last winter’s evenly matched series and promises another competitive night for the home crowd.
Mr and Mrs. George Dickinson hosted Presbyterian Sunday school officers and teachers for an evening centered on work and Christmas fund plans. Mrs G E Hamilton and Miss Helen Russell helped with refreshments after the business session.
A group of school teachers visited the George Guerin ranch hosted by Tom Guerin. They dined generously, socialized, and heard pioneer memories from the Guerin brothers. The guests included Misses Alice Alverdes Fay Irvine Thelma Howe Marjorie Hazelton Gertrude Sick Pearl Dodele Fairy Devis and the Guerin brothers Jim Tom and George.

The J L Blankenship family completed a five room modern bungalow on a Lee road site owned by Jim Matter. A Matteihed 2 sawmill operated on the property last year as part of the development before the move.
The Rebekahs meet Monday evening and after the session the green aide will entertain the pink side to close a recent contest. All members are urged to attend.
Robison announces Coos and Curry Grange council will meet at the Courthouse Monday December 1st at eight o'clock. The council comprises subordinate granges across Coos and Curry counties.
Jay Schriefer, en route home from Corvallis, stopped after a four car accident last week. He provided first aid to several injured using his Boy Scout kit and skills, aiding those still present at the scene.
Merle Kenyon has bought four lots on the Max Dement property along the highway at the city edge on Eighth Street and intends to build a house there later.
Mrs Bettie Mitchell of Myrtle Point reports her mother aged 96 in Virginia is ill Mrs Mitchell herself is 78 years old and awaiting word on her grandmother's condition.
W. H. Taylor of Canyonville, visiting after 21 years, called on old friends and visited the S. S Reed family. He formerly worked for Chas. Broadbent at the South Folk Factory and has traveled extensively. He said no town matched Myrtle Point for progress given its size.
After two days missing in high altitude woods near Sandyersek headwaters, Jimmy Byrne, 27, found safe near Sitkus post office Brewster valley. Byrne, visiting relatives with a lumber mill on Sandy Creek, endured cold rain and hail while his friends hunted and searched. His boxing record appears in the Everton Boxing Record Book.
Hale, a Bridge area farmer, was released from the hospital today after weeks of treatment for a fractured vertebrae caused by a horse accident on his ranch. He visited the Bewner store to have a leather jacket made while he recovers.
At Tuesday’s Grange gathering 50 members attended and two new members joined. Pomong Master Henry Gustafson presided and officers will be elected at the all-day December 2 meeting, with a turkey dinner to be served at noon.

Clinton daughter of Myrtle A Clinton a Monmouth normal graduate teaching near Corvallis. Peel OSC 1980 civil engineer in San Francisco working as government inspector on the dredge Yankee. Wedding planned in chapter house early in June.
