Trucks collide on highway near Bridge delays traffic

A Portland bound night freight truck and another truck to Reeeburg collided on the highway Friday night. The trailer of the freight truck was badly damaged and the highway was blocked until a wrecker cleared the scene. The damaged truck was towed to Pearce garage and held until owners claimed it yesterday.

Wrecks Prompt Wrecker Calls In Broadbent and Twin Oaks

A car driven by Mrs. Langston of Powers ran off the highway near Broadbent yesterday and needed a wrecker. The L H Pearce wrecker assisted. Earlier, the Pearce wrecker was sent to the Twin Oaks district to fix a county grader back on the highway.

Coast Highway Plans Discussed At Regional Meeting

Local men including Mr and Mrs George Dickinson and Mr and Mrs Elmer Russell attended a Chandler hotel meeting at 6 50 PM with the Empire Coast association to boost traffic across the coast states. Gov Norblad joined the gathering while Jesse Clinton and Ellis Dement spoke at a North Bend luncheon and later joined a chamber of commerce dinner at the Chandler.

Myrtle Point closes businesses from 2 to 4 pm for the Marshfield vs Myrtle Point football game, the last home game before 1982. Marshfield, strong statewide, aims to overwhelm local team coached by Essman and Rickard. lineup features Lloyd Ray and Arthur Pearson among others..controller officials from Roseburg and Coquille. Mr. and Mrs. Cody Cakler bought the Morrison residence on Alder Street. The Morrisons sold and are moving this week to a new Willow Street house recently built by the family.

Joe Mast of Myrtle Point won the corn husking contest with Shirley fear of Coquille second. John of Gaylord and Neel, both of Myrtle Point, placed first and second in the jig contest. Akron airfield toy inspires giant rubber ad model

L H Pearce shows in his garage a working electric model of Akron Ohio’s big airdrome built by a rubber firm. The prototype is a vast spoke of the Ohio town with doors that open and a zeppelin emerging. County commissioner elect J D Carl from Arago was in town.

Valley Ranchers Win Corn Prizes At Coquille Show

Coos county exhibits at the Coquille Corn Show ranked among the best for its size. Prime displays covered corn, potatoes, apples, root crops, and vegetables with strong poultry and small animal sections. Awards totaled across many farms with O H Assen Arago taking nine prizes and Mrs. Frank Lane Coquille seven.
