Lake project proposal discussed by Myrtle Point officials
Jock Dunn of the planning commission and Keith from the high school near Myrtle Point voiced support for a lake fed by pump-over water from the city reservoir. Schroeder noted the lake would stay full of good clean water. President Leroy Robinson said chamber financing for the feasibility study would be on the agenda at the next regular meeting in December.

Christmas opening set for Myrtle PointNov 26 27
The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce Retail Trade Committee set November 26 and 27 to open the Christmas shopping season in Myrtle Point. Santa Claus will visit on Saturday November 27 in the afternoon, with additional appearances on December 4 and 18 under chamber and Lions Club sponsorships. Local merchants donate prizes for a large merchandise giveaway planned for the final Saturday before Christmas. Stores may extend hours to 8 pm December 17 18 and December 20 23. The fire department will install Christmas lighting in the business district this weekend.

The Food Stamp Center at the corner of Sheridan and Virginie in North Bend opens five days a week, Monday through Friday. Certification hours run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and issuance hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In Coquille, the Community Building offers stamps three days a month with dates listed for November and December. Power outage hits Coos County customers Saturday
