Rev F H Barr of Myrtle Point performed the ceremony in a room decorated with chrysanthemums. The couple received a housewarming and charivari in Powers that evening. The groom is a Powers High School class of 1937 graduate and the bride is the fourth member of the class of 1938 to marry.
Miss Margaret Frye becomes Mrs Bernard Hawser in a November 11 1939 ceremony at Drain Methodist church parsonage. Rev Parker officiated. Parker had led Community church in Powers in 1930. The couple visited the Hachier cabin on the Umpqua before returning to town. Hawser and Haweer work in logging and Mrs Haweer is a Powers High School graduate who studied at the University of Oregon.

A G Ely appeared in the justice court of E A Dodge and received a 60 day suspended sentence on a liquor charge. The suspension runs for two years. Pearson preferred the charges. T W Merrill faced F A Dodge and was fined eight dollars plus costs for using a void foreign license.

Miss Grayce Parry of Roseburg formerly of Myrtle Point wed Harold F E Blomquist Sunday afternoon November 12 1936 with Rev. Perry Smith presiding. Parry daughter of Mr and Mrs John Parry of Melrose attended Myrtle Point before moving to Roseburg. Blomquist son of Mr and Mrs E O Blomquist of Roseburg. The bride wore a wine colored wool suit with green accessories and gardenia corsage. Maid of honor was Mrs G B Reed sister of the bride. Attendants included Mr and Mrs L R Huntley and Geraidine of Myrtle Point. After a California honeymoon the couple will reside in Roseburg.
George Washington Wilson died at his Myrtle Point home on Seventh Street Friday November 10 1938 from a cerebral hemorrhage. Born July 30 1884 in Ferndale California he moved to the area as a child. He married Alma Grice Sargent in 1907 and is survived by his wife four sons Thomas of Prineville Manley Harry Earl of Myrtle Point and four daughters Hazel Rice Margaret Whobrey of Myrtle Point Louise and Maxine Wilson of Los Angeles. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the MorWay funeral home and grave at MorWay cemetery.
The Norway Extension unit met at the Hugh MacLean home last Thursday with Mrs Walter Laird and Mrs Roy Robison leading the project. An interesting demonstration was given by members including Mesdames Laird Robison Southmayd Renfro Bender Hodson Bryant Southmayd Bennett Anderson Roberts and Miss Dorothy Bender, with visitors Mrs Wallace and Mrs Holland. The next meeting will be at the Walter Laird home Friday Dec 2 with Miss Julia Bennett in charge.
Professor A. Dahlberg of the University of Oregon spoke on Enlightened Public Opinion at the Myrtle Point Masonic lodge open session during Education Week. The event featured a Chamber of Commerce quartet and high school faculty member George Hall, with Elton Schroeder welcoming visitors.

Coquille high school’s Red Devils routed Myrtle Point 538 to 0 in the Armistice Day clash, signaling a claim to the state title as Coquille dominated Coos competition and overwhelmed the Myrtle Point challengers. Myrtle Point had previously lost twice to Coquille and finished the season with tough defeats.
John Carl of Arago was elected chairman of the Coos county committee for the 1940 Federal Agricultural Conservation Program at the county convention in Coquille. He succeeds W E Cross who led the committee for two years. Other members include George Landrith vice chairman Abe Grossen and J F Van Leuven with alternates A R Davenport and J F Van Leuven.
