Ruth Barklow Dies at 77 in Sitkum Route Home

Ruth Z Barklow died November 6 at age 77 on Sitkum route. Born February 10 1890 in Dora she belonged to the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church of Myrtle Point. Surviving are Virginia Ostrander of Gold Beach Harvey Minard of Coquille Minnie Mathewson of Cottonwood Calif eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Services set for Myrtle Point Chapel November 9 at 10 00 a.m with Elder Dean Mason officiating. Interment to follow Myrtle Point Cemetery.

Private Miller Assigned To Vietnam unit

Private Merton E. Miller Jr., 18, son of residents of Myrtle Point Oregon, was assigned to the 459 Signal Battalion in Vietnam on October 18. He is a lineman in Company C, entered the Army in May 1967, and was last stationed at Fort Gordon. He attended Myrtle Point High School.

Education Week Tour At Myrtle Point Schools

During American Education Week Myrtle Point Chamber members toured Spruce School and visited Myrtle Point High School. About 20 adults joined Tuesday’s district tour to view classes in session and learn about local schools within the city.

Accident Victim Services Set For Thursday

Funeral services for June Melvina Milton who died from injuries in an automobile crash near Arago on November 6 will be held Thursday at 2 00 p m in the Myrtle Point Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Milton was born June 22, 1929 in Jackson Prairie, Washington and worked for Gumey Cleaners. She is survived by her husband Elmer Milton Jr two sons Billie Lee and Beverly Ernest of Sacramento, sisters Violet Coddell of South America Betty McCamney of Roseburg Jane Holcomb of Medford and Jean Roy of Chicago.

Tragic One Car Crash Claims Milvina Milton Near Arago

Milvina Milton 38 of Halls Creek on Arago Route dies in a single vehicle crash one mile north of Arago and 5.2 miles southwest of Coquille. Her 8 year old daughter Sendra Dean Milton survives as the car, a 1966 Oldsmobile, rolled after veering on a curved section before resting on its wheels. Both were unbelted at impact and the deceased was taken to Coos Mortuary facilities.

Oscar Washington Parrish died November 3 in Myrtle Point. Funeral services were not held on Tuesday in Myrtle Point Chapel. He was 72, survived by his wife Edith, and by James of this city. Parrish formerly drove freighters from Gravelford, and ran a dairy. He later worked as a maintenance man for the Coos County Fair grounds. His daughter was hospitalized in North Bend for a fracture.
