Ford coupe disappears from cemetery road hillside
Ellis Billings left his Ford coupe on the Norway cemetery road and returned to find it missing. The brake was not set and gravity sent the car down the hill. Auto Park wrecker towed it to Myrtle Point with a bent frame and major chassis damage. A bird magazine cites four billion birds in the country, an amount familiar to local gardeners.

Old Civil War Vet Near Century Mark at Memorial Service
Isaac Nichols, 95, oldest Mytle Point G A R member, was unable to attend Memorial Sunday at Church of The Brethren due to ailments. Elder Leander Smith preached to veterans of 1861 as post membership declines, with five G A R members and Woman's Relief Corps present. The service recalled Civil War era losses and Brethren opposition to the conflict.

Long 14 inning baseball game ends 5 to 4 in Coquille favor
Baseball fans witnessed a 14 inning marathon on local diamonds with Coquille beating Myrtle Point 5 4. After nine innings the score stood 4 4 with Myrtle Point scoring in the fourth and sixth and Coquille tallying in the first, seventh and eighth. Sylvester A Buell Rites Held After Salem Death
Sylvester A Buell 78, brother of AL Buell of this city, died in Salem last Saturday while visiting Oregon. The body was taken to Myrtle Creek for burial with Rev Emery Snyder of the Christian church officiating. He leaves a son in Portland, another in Nevada, a daughter Mrs Chas Knight of Powers, plus brothers and sisters.

Pearce's Car Flips Twice on Highway Return From Marshfield
L H Pearce rode home from Marshfield Friday afternoon when his car rolled over twice at about 35 mph. He escaped with two minor scratches on his hand and head that vanished within two days. The crash, triggered by a broken spindle bolt, happened just south of the Norway store with no other vehicles nearby.

Silver Medal Contest At Local Christian Church
The Silver Medal contest was held Friday evening by the WC T U in the Christian church. Six children competed with Geraldine Reed winning the medal and Beulah Spencer close second. Other contestants were Delbert Spencer Lila Nelson Kenneth Deitz and Elsie Reed. The program included songs prayers piano solos and an address with topics on patriotism and social issues. A silver offering funded expenses and refreshments followed in the dining room.

Women’s club closes year with election at city hall
The Women’s club held its final meeting before summer vacation at city hall. Officers for the coming year were elected: Mrs Lucy Barker president, Mrs Ne Fearnley vice president, Mrs Helen Chambers secretary, Mrs Peel second vice president, and Mrs Picciola Russell treasurer. A play by the section featured Mrs G Peel as Ma Sweet and a cast including Mrs Octavia Tucker, Mrs Viola Dickinson, Mrs Hilda Bargett, Mrs Gladys Evans, Mrs Helen Chambers, Mrs Dense Clarke, and Evelyn Hulet. The group plans a three act production in fall and may send delegates to a convention in Klamath Falls June 25 to 28.

Unable to Fly Dubvaker Airplane Delayed At Mittle Point
The Dubvaker airplane arrived at Mittle Point last week but could not take off due to fog and rain. Despite efforts since Tuesday, strong ocean currents hinder ascent, with the pilot descended several times. Car Leaves Grade When Driver Reaches For Pet
Mrs. George Mullen was driving on North Fork road near town when she bent to move a dog, causing the car to go off the grade. A passing motorist helped push it back onto the highway and it ran again under its own power. Mrs. Mullen had been released from hospital last week after an operation.
