76 Graduates Hear Inspirational Sermon at Baccalaureate Services
Rev Lloyd Swenson of the Presbyterian church delivered an inspirational sermon to the 76 member Myrtle Point Union High School class at the baccalaureate service held at the First Methodist Church. He urged graduates to choose their path at a cross road stage and reflect on life decisions.

PTSD Elects Officers For the Coming Year At Meeting May 20
At a May 20 meeting held at the high school a parent teacher and student group elected officers for the coming year. Elected were Mrs Norbert Hines president Ray Neugart vice president Sar Hauschildt secretary and Mrs C S Lehmanowsky treasurer. Hubert Armstrong high school superintendent outlined new subjects and planned program. refreshments were provided by several members.

Powers High School Class of ’58 Holds Dual Graduation Ceremonies
The Powers High School gym hosted graduation events for the Class of ’58 with 29 eighth graders and 13 seniors. Valedictorian Robert Thorp and salutatorian William Peterson received watches funded by Kenneth Rolfe. Principal Millard and Supt. Nicklaus awarded honors and invited Francis Smith's athletic award. Arthur C. Hearn of the University of Oregon spoke on education as a lifelong process, noting schooling is only part of a student’s life.
