Baltimore Colony History Presented At Myrtle Point Lions Meeting

Verlin Hermann great grandson of Dr. Henry Hermann spoke at the Myrtle Point Lions Club on a Baltimore Colony history. He traced pioneer days with humor and reviewed the colony journey to Coos County in 1859 and listed earlier settlers along with their homesteads, as chronicled in The Myrtle Point Herald.

109th Annual Masonic Grand Lodge Meeting in Portland

The 109th annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Oregon will be held June 10 11 and 12 at the Shrine auditorium in Portland. Each of the 191 lodges can send three representatives plus Grand Lodge officers and committee members. Myrtle Lodge No 78 plans to attend with officers listed among attendees.

Marvin Radloff Wins State Pole Vault Title

Marvin Radloff of Myrtle Punt High won the state pole vault championship with a 12 ft 6 in leap at the Corvallis meet setting a state high school record. He also set a school low hurdles mark with 21.4 seconds but hit three hurdles in the finals for a fifth place finish. Sophomore Dave Mai placed among the state's top mileers with 4 51.8.

Baccalaureate Service Honors M P High Class

Father Richard Littlehales delivered the baccalaureate sermon at St Mark's Episcopal Church honoring the Class of 1959 from M P High School. He urged graduates to make glorifying God the purpose of life, partnering with God in any vocation for a life well spent. The event drew a large crowd with music and greetings from local clergy. Commencement follows tonight at the high school gym with Dr W Scott Nobles to speak.
