Portland announces the revival of the Pacific International Livestock Exposition as part of Oregon’s Centennial celebration. The event runs October 17–24 at a renovated New Portland building with a large premium fund exceeding 75000 dollars. Executives include Theo B Wilcox as chair, Floyd Maxwell as promotions chief, Walter Holt as general manager, and Harrison Cutler returning to manage the show.
The Myrtle Point High School Class of 1959 will hold a baccalaureate service Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Rev Father Richard Littlehales of St Mark's Episcopal Church will deliver the sermon. Commencement at the high school gym Thursday at 8 p.m. features Dr W Scott Nobles as speaker with Inda Ford valedictorian and Carol Johnson salutatorian.
The Spring Handicap Golf Tournament at Coquille Valley Golf & Country Club advances to the semi finals this week. Erv Detman faces Ray Getchell while Don Assen defeated Clayton Mast in a sudden death playoff. Other matches remain to be played this week.
