Myrtle Point voters will re decide on the 1974 75 City budget exceeding six percent by 136 301 with a proposed tax levy of 250 006 down from last year 141 350 and an earlier misstatement of 205 608. An explanation of budget increases is in today's Herald.
Coquille announces its first annual Gay 90s festival set for May 23 to 25 in conjunction with the opening season of the Sawdust Theatre. Beginning today May 25 all business and professional people will wear Gay 90s attire. On May 24 the Sawdusters stage an annual hospital benefit performance at 8 p.m. at the Sawdust Theatre.
Mrs Halter who began at Spruce School in 1943 and later led Maple Primary School as principal plans to retire and travel with husband Virgil Halter who retired in March 1973.
Myrtle Point voters defeated the proposed city budget by a narrow margin and sent it to the budget committee for reevaluation. The committee recommended resubmission to the public with explanations of increases and essential expenditures including wages, fuel, equipment, and the daycare matching funds.
Les Simons district music supervisor announces the annual all district 41 band concert for grades 5 to 12, tonight at Myrtle Crest Gym starting 7:30. No charge, but a beef raffle fundraiser raises money for the high school band trip to Coquitlam B C. Awards will be presented during the program. last year’s recipients included Pam Henshaw, Susan Ocheltree, Rita Robison.
Coos County Clerk Fay Crabtree lists primary election polling sites Precinct 51 Lil Norway Precinct 53 Myrtle Grange ward by Rod Boone and mentions the John Philip Sousa Award to Steve Moon. The Bad Parents announce their final Canadian Rummage Sale for May 30 and 31 with set hours at Myrtle Point locations including City Hall Ep iscopal Church Broadbent Grange Bridge School Powers Junior High Arago School and Arago Middle School.
Nine candidates spoke at the Farm Bureau meeting Tuesday night May 21 in the Coquille Community Building. County Commissioner positions 2 and 6 drew attention with contenders Dick Schulz Bob Geaney and Woody Robison currently in seat 6.
Public notices list Myrtle Point City Council meetings on the first and third Mondays at 7 30 P M in council chambers. Also listed are the Port of Coos Bay commission meetings on the third Tuesday, Myrtle Point District 4 School Board sessions on the second and fourth Mondays at 6 P M, and the City Planning Commission and Library Board meeting times. Separate notes report candidates for Coos County Commissioner District 3 Mickey Moffitt Bob Younker and Cory Houston and other races with brief explanations and a question period followed by refreshments.
Citizens in Myrtle Point met May 21 in the kindergarten room to discuss objectives and by laws for a new local organization. A steering committee and temporary officers Kent Harris, Doug Sinko, Charlene Miller, Colleen Rema, Paula Miller and Dan Woolley were announced with another meeting set for May 28 at 7 30 p.m. to gather ideas.
