Bertha Craig, a junior high student, will travel to California for a visit after school Friday. She will be accompanied by Mrs. Lia Carver, who also plans a California trip.
The 48 senior class of Myrtleris Valorent school will hold Friday evening exercises in the high school auditorium. Speaker Prof. Willen Jones of the University of Oregon Social Befence department will deliver the commencement address. The program includes musical numbers, salutatory Wilma Wolff, violin solo Fred Dallas, valedictory Lyle Olson, roll of classes, honor students, and diplomas for 24 graduates.
Oregon State Motor Association warns motorists to verify they possess 1942 car registration certificates as ration boards may require proof before gasoline ration cards are issued. The board may stamp registrations to prevent duplicate ration card issuance. duplicates cost 60 cents via a form at the Secretary of State's office.
The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce plans a regular meeting at the Jack and Jill Cafe next Tuesday at 12 80. The executive committee met Tuesday noon at the same venue and approved discussing community activities with all members urged to attend.
Nineteen homes entered the home owned division and five the rented group in the Home Beautification contest. The Lions club again sponsors the event with E. C. Sugar for canning remains limited to five pounds per person for the season under current rationing rules. The Coos County Rationing Board notes five pounds is inadequate for Oregon households and advises those needing more than the five pound quota to apply to the county board.
Salem issued a May 31 deadline for controlled burning in western Oregon and parts of eastern Oregon west of the Southern Pacific railway. State Forester Rogers cited Army authorization through IX Army Corps Fort Lewis and urged burn plans to be coordinated with local wardens to avoid smoke affecting maneuvers after June 1.
