First Quarter Log Exports High in 1966
Sattwood log exports from the Pacific Northwest totaled 256 million board feet in the first quarter of 1966, up 7 percent from the previous quarter. Washington District shipments were 174 million, Oregon 82 million, with Japan taking 217 million and Canada 36 million. Douglas fir averaged 75.85 per thousand, Port Orford cedar 170.84, other softwoods 75.89.

The church will clear the area and use it for parking until a building program is completed, according to church members. Arago PTO Pushes Consolidation of Phone Exchanges
At a Monday noon Arago PTO meeting the plan to consolidate Coquille and Myrtle Point telephone exchanges was outlined by West Coast Telephone Co. manager Bruce Eddy. Subscribers would be polled by mail with an 80 percent return needed to proceed and a small bill increase would apply if approved. The group avoided pushing a wider Coos Bay area merger and referred the issue to the county commissioners for recommendation to the labor bureau.
