Myrtle Point Sportsmen’s club members gathered last Thursday evening to a North Fork river area pond. They dragged a long net through the mud puddle and pulled in about 700 silversides along with steelhead and cutthroat trout measuring two to seven inches. The event marks unusual overflow lake activity as fish were caught before potential drying.
Myrtle Point high school official G B Goddard announces Charlie Bingham junior student and athletics manager plus student body president elect has been selected as one of six Oregon delegates to the National Convention of outstanding high school students in Denver Colorado June 18 to 22 1950. Bingham son of Mr and Mrs J A Bingham will join fellow delegates meeting at Salem before traveling to Denver.
The Active club finished moving 280 truck loads of soil to the Myrtlewood park playground site at the new school building area. Weather permitting the grounds will be shaped and equipment installed, with new equipment stored until use.

Marlene R Gasner a Myrtle Point high school senior and honor student has won a scholarship in the School of Home Economics at Oregon State College. She will attend in the 1950 51 term starting September and the award is funded by the Amalgamated Sugar Company.
