Coquille resident Marlin Glock, longtime artificial kidney patient, underwent a kidney transplant at the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland on April 26. Glock, a salesman from Coos Bay, had been in the Kidney Association of Oregon program since July 1972 and later returned home for ongoing dialysis.

Butler dies in two car crash near Cherry Creek hill
William R. Butler 45 of Sitkum Route died Tuesday night while being transported to Coquille Valley Hospital after a two car collision in the Dora area near Cherry Creek hill. He worked for Roseburg Lumber Co in Coquille and was president of the local Plywood Lumber and Sawmill Workers union AFL-CIO in Coquille.
