A logging operator died Friday after a brief illness. He had recent heart and lung complications, with a pneumonia development early this week. He was hospitalized multiple times and became unconscious on Wednesday.

Non-High District To Elect Director

The Non High district will elect one director at the annual school meeting on the third Monday in June to succeed J N Gearhart who has served as director from this zone for three years and as board chairman. Council Grants Two Licenses and Cemetery Funds Move

The council met in regular session with Mayor Ralph Kng presiding. A $23 from the cemetery fund was approved for cleaning the cemetery on designated cleanup days May 20 22 and 23. New Mail Route Extends Service West of River

Beginning July 1 a new mail route will provide regular daily service six days a week to outlying communities west of the river. The carrier will travel from Coquille to Creek junction then Jehirg Creek road to Pete Norton ranch and Broad Bent, returning via Roseburg highway to Myrtle Point and Coquille. Charles Wagner and brother Lee Wagner run a mining operation in Johnson Creek district. Their cabin burned recently destroying tools and gold valued at 190 dollars. Neighbors rebuilt a new cabin within two days and Wagner retrieved gold from ashes.
