The Coos County non high school board met last evening to authorize an election in Zone II for a new director Adam Donaldson Jr. The board reduced non high warrant interest to three and a half percent and advertised bus-route bids including Coaledo to Riverton and Coaledo to Coquille routes. Contracts for several runs were extended at current prices, and tuition for New Lake students at Langlois High was approved. A PUD proposal was discussed with opposition, and a plan to divide annual salaries into 12 monthly payments was noted. Consolidation votes passed in Allegany West Allegany and nearby districts with some districts voting on Gravelford and related boundaries. The Coos County track meet is set for May 4 in Coquille.
The Presbyterian Church outlines schedule with Pastor Dr M White leading worship from the words Not by might but by my Spirit says the Lord of hosts. Services at 7 45 pm with early 7 pm arrival and song service. Junior and adult groups meet, with various studies and rehearsals through the week. Catholic Mass led by Rev D J Kelly is listed with evening devotions nightly in March.
Shiloh Pleasant Hill and Gravelford will form a new consolidated district. Earlier consolidations mentioned cover four other groupings in Coos with favorable votes in each district. The county reorganization board invites other districts to express interest in consolidation votes.
The St Ann Altar Society and Discussion Group planned a meeting at Father Kelly's living room. Several local families including Mrs Leslie Strong Pauline and Aubrey, Mr and Mrs George Hermann, Mr and Mrs S Reed, and others hosted or attended meals and visits around Arago Myrtle Point Coos River during the weekend.
