Pioneer Day Observed By Myrtle Point Woman's Club
The Myrtle Point Woman's Club held its Annual Pioneer Day at the Presbyterian church. Former MP Pastor Dies At Heppner
Rev R. Carl Young a former pastor of Myrtle Point's Theodist church died at his Heppner home Wednesday April 24 1940. He had led the local Methodist church in 1934 and 1985 then served in Heppner until his death. Funeral services were held there Friday then in Portland. He is survived by his widow a daughter Mrs Ruth Rasmussen of Portland two sons Rev of Forest Grove and Robert of Eugene.

Rebekah Ladies Entertain Odd Fellows Anniversary
The Rebekah Order ladies hosted the Odd Fellows Wednesday evening to mark the 126th anniversary of the organization's founding. A seven piece orchestra directed by T P Hoperly provided music, games were played, and refreshments were served.

Mishap on Smith River Leaves Clerk Injured
While fishing near Gardiner on Sunday Rodney Booth and Ralph Whitaker helped Alfred Strong after he was head struck by a snag on a fallen tree. Strong was driven to Mast hospital where seven stitches were needed. He could not return to work Monday and remained unable to perform duties for the rest of the week.
