Manager Spenny Ross lists favorites and crowd-pleasers such as Star Spangled Banner Under the Double Eagle Pasadena Day Dancing in the Dark Sally Trombone featuring Roy Dayton The Man I Love Invercargill Washington Grays La Sonella I Love a Parade Lights Out Night and Day Southern Cross Them Bosses A magic intermission by John Heer en Jr assisted by Keith Schroeder and Norman Dodge.
David L. Doperalski resigns as manager of Superior Cheese Company to join a Midwest cheese manufacturer. Arthur C. Henry of the Myrtle Point plant will oversee operations under B G Wilcox, general manager, with headquarters in Oakland California.
The Protestant churches of Myrtle Point through Church Fellowship announce a pre Easter evangelistic series. Rev Bebee of the Assembly of God will preach at 7745 on Wednesday evening. Rev Wayne Brown of the Methodist church will speak Thursday. The Missing Christian will be shown Friday at the Methodist church. Professor Ward Rice of Northwest Christian College will preach Sunday at the Christian church March 29. Public welcome.
Leonard Ensele, chairman, reports Myrtle Point’s Red Cross drive is far below the anticipated goal and urges immediate solicitations as the drive ends March 31. He notes the organization faces substantial costs and must meet its obligations to fund blood supplies for civilians and armed forces.
Harold Watzling urges sportsmen to attend the Easter Ham shoot at the local grounds next Sunday starting at 10 am. Swift's Premium Hams and Bacon are prizes with all proceeds to the club building fund. A beginners trap shoot will also be offered with bacon prizes for winners.
Wilbur Gage president of the Coos Curry Shrine club announces Mel Venter and his Breakfast Gang will appear at the H. S. gym Coos Bay on Saturday May 2. The 114 hour stage show with dancing from 10 to 1 will feature the entire gang including Aimie Polly Sweeney and Lyle Budrowd orchestra.
A decomposed body found Sunday is thought to be Karl H Miller drowned during the December 1948 flood when a log dam washed out on the North Fork Coquille near Sitkum. The body washed ashore at Gravel Ford and is being held at Schroeder undertaking parlors. No known relatives exist. Contact funeral management if you have information.
The Myrtle Point Herald offers a dollar day bargain next Saturday March 28 with year subscriptions in Coos county for 2.00 and outside Coos county for 4.00. The paper plans to publish subscribers names next week and urges local readers to visit downtown to renew or purchase multiple years.
The Lions Club will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt at the Fair Grounds on Sunday April 5 with Lyle Hunt in charge. The event starts at 1 p m and is open to all Southern Coos county children. Prizes include eggs for various age groups and plenty of entertainment. A Lions gathering featured a talk by Berton on Alaska with photos from a Yukon trip. A district Lions meeting is planned in Bandon with tickets available through secretary Chet Weed.
Health officials publish the schedule for free chest X ray surveys open to adults aged 15 to 106. No appointment is needed with units visiting Bridge Murphy's store April 3 1 pm to 7 pm and other towns including Norway Powers Sitkum Myrtle Point and Arago through April 18.
Mike Lewis of Estes Park Colorado joins Myrtle Point police department as a new officer. The appointment expands the local police roster and strengthens the town’s crime response capacity.
