The Bandon Game & Fish club urged trapping be restricted to streams with real damage while the Game Commission maintains an open season for beaver across the district. Reports cite 35 beavers trapped along a Coos county stream where no damage occurred, highlighting overtrapping concerns.
Myrtle Point high school staged Rob ert St Clair's The Cannibal Queen drawing record applause. Ju Ju cannibal queen played by Larry on Lucas and impostor Audrey Russell drew roaring praise while the plot twisted around Ervin Royer and Pepper Baker as cast and townsfolk cheered the finale and cast bows.

Coos county sanitarian C Eugene Fields urged all food handlers to take free chest X-rays offered in the county. The guidance applies to restaurant workers meat cutters grocery staff and tavern workers for public and self protection. Dates for Southern Coos County were announced last week.
Mrs. G. King will manage the Kiddie Kapers parade for Southern Coos county youngsters ages three to 21 with divisions by age. Over 200 in cash prizes, plus prizes for horses, wagons, dolls, costumes, jalopies, bicycles, and pets. Registration due by next Wednesday night. parade starts at 1:30 and free ice cream will follow at Richmaid station. Myrtle Point merchants offer Spring Opening Dollar Day bargains and a Community Barn concert for visitors.
Chet Noyes of Myrtle Point was elected president of the Coquille Valley Golf Club at a special meeting. Cecil Patrick named vice president and Bill Downing secretary. A motion to merge the women and men’s clubs was approved. Lou Holiman presided and urged retaining the local course and improving it with community effort.
Dale and Ann Wade of Pop's Place Myrtle Point appeared with warrants from Police Chief Richard Vines on charges of selling beer to minors. About 20 minors alleged involved. one allegedly bought beer on three occasions. They were released on recognizance till preliminary hearing before Judge Jess Barton, then bound over to the grand jury. If true bill, trial in circuit court.

4 H club leaders from Coos county will host training sessions March 19 20 and 21 led by Mise Esther Taskerud of the state 4 H club staff. She will speak at the Myrtle Point grange hall meeting and conduct clothing and home economics workshops in Coos Bay and Kickworth homes.

The Bridge 4 H Sheep club met at Howard Leatherman's Fairview ranch on Sunday March 15. Members learned about sheep pens and barn setups while demonstrations showed weighing methods for beef animals. Closest guessers included Ma Lancaster and Glenda Smith. other attendees were Paula Lancaster Smith Treia and Louise Nelson.
Myrtle Point Chamber hears Rep. Ivan Laird endorse Senate Bill 259 to close the Coquille river to commercial fishing. He notes sports value outweighs commercial gains and warns House opposition may block passage, citing eastern interests and House opposition patterns.
Fire Chief Fellner is appointed by the council and tasked with personally notifying owners of house numbers. He has left numbers on doors where contact was made and seeks to unify numbering when numbers can be purchased.
