Community Band Shines in Free Junior High Concert
A sizeable audience enjoyed Myrtle Point's Community Band free concert at the new junior high school last Thursday. The evening featured two trumpet solos by Ham Thrift and trombone solos by Roy Dayton who is soon leaving to join the service, plus a magic show by John Heeren Jr Norman Dodge and Keith Schroeder. Band director team Spenny Ross and Arnold Melby with Les Simmons were thanked for the performance and the hope for future patronage by local citizens.

Fair Board Approves 4-H Dormitory Build at Fair Grounds

Southwestern Oregon's first rodeo of the 1953 season unfolds June 6-7 at the Coos County Fairgrounds Myrtle Point. The two day event, staged by the Coos County Rodeo Association, features saddle and bareback riding calf roping Brahma bull riding wild cow milking and a cutting horse competition.
