Mrs. W. H. Schroeder 78 of Coquille died Monday morning after a stroke. A watchmaker and jeweler, she and her husband previously ran a store in Arago. Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. in Schroeder Mortuary with Rev Nelson officiating. burial in Norway family plot. Survived by husband three sons Earl Leslie Loren, three brothers, four sisters and many relatives.
Oscar Palmquist of Eugene becomes manager of the Myrtle Point Safeway replacing Chris Arnason who transfers to Grants Pass. Arnason led the store for a year. Palmquist has two years with Safeway including time in Eugene. He is married with two children seeking a home in Myrtle Point. one child attends school in Eugene.
Four H members Karin Train Martha Paula and Gregory Lancaster with Powell Lancaster visited Hydenville California to view registered Romney sheep on the D N Gould ranch. Each youngster purchased a registered Romney ram or lamb as part of 4 H projects and foundation flocks. Mr Gould hopes to reach 600 registered sheep by spring including the 1000 Romney ram imported from England.
Al Cunningham of the Bobcats earned a spot on the county all-star team after a strong season scoring 15.2 points per game. He joined fellow Bobcats Jim Hammack and Ross Pinkley on the second team, as Len Scolari led scoring with 17.7.
Mrs Orlin Lett announces that the comedy drama Deacon Dubbs will be repeated at the school gym Friday March 21 by popular demand. The cast member Bob Thompson previously missed the show and did not click with the audience leading to a repeat performance to showcase the production.
