A Bridge couple of brothers from Remote Township return along a country road when a nearby field erupts in a chorus of frogs seeking rain. The two men, Bill and Thelmar, are hinted but not named, as a local justice of the peace retires after years of service.
At the American Legion Junior Baseball banquet, Harold Stemmler, Bobby Deehr, and David Haberly received MVP honors. Ritchie Francis earned Legion president duties, Billie Arnold was named most improved, and Bull Downing led as past president. Billie Arnold was named most improved player.

Two Republicans and one Democrat contend for offices.
The Bridge 4-H clubs announced a public dance on April 12 at the Bridge grange hall to raise funds for a 4-H dormitory on the fair grounds. The Beet club, led by president Donnie Bowers, chaired the regular monthly meeting.
Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club will sponsor an essay contest for Myrtle Point Union High School students. Essays on conservation of natural resources may run about 200 words. Prizes total 16000 dollars with 2500 first and 1500 second. judging by Wallace Cement, Dal Kantra, George Jenkins. Contest closes April 15.

The Superior Cheese company funds annual 4-H dairy club awards prize money for top performers at the Coos County fair in Myrtle Point. First prize includes 960 toward a registered dam with 500 pounds butterfat in 305 days. second prize 46 toward a heifer calf from a dam with 490 pounds butterfat. Club leaders pick winners, guided by county agents and local dairying experts.
A large crowd attended the dedication of Bridge High School’s new multi purpose room on Friday night March 7. The program featured Rev J S Giberson invocation Jack Willing presenting the flag Alf Young Ivan Cribbins and Andrew Waterman introducing the board plaque in honor of principal Jimmie King Paul Franzen as guest speaker and a closing band number.
Local youngsters attend the seventh annual state meeting of the Homemakers of America at Oregon State College March 6 to 8 with about 250 delegates represen ting Myrtle Point. It was reported that last year funds were allocated to three percent county fairs across the state, each receiving 810 875 from the pari mutuel fund.
