Melting snow and heavy rains turn the Coquille River muddy just as anglers hoped for a final weekend of steelhead season. Many fishers gathered on the Middle Fork but rising turbid water ended plans and prolonged closures, ending a disappointing stretch as the season closed. Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club seeks volunteers to salvage an estimated 80 000 fish stranded in flood ponds and help distribute 10 000 hatchery rainbow trout from the Game Commission. Tom Forrest urges all residents to join, stressing nonmembers welcome and a unified effort to boost Coos County fishing opportunities.
Myrtle Point hosts a big Dollar Day with a free afternoon square dance led by caller W L Reavig of Coquille at the Oaks pavilion. A band concert, a Hiland theatre show, and prize giveaways accompany the day’s program, with participation required to win.

Rev Archie McNeill leads services Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7 48 p m with full Passion Week activities to follow in area churches.

The Coos County Bar Association asks the county court to reduce four justice of peace districts to two twin districts northern and southern. Each JP would serve in at least two cities. A hearing is set for April 7 1952 at 10 a.m. at the county courthouse Coquille Oregon with public input invited.
Myrtle Point students from first grade to senior class may audition for an all school talent show sponsored by the Myrtle Point Active Club. Auditions and arrangements start Monday at 7 30 in the high school band room with prizes in each age group and a final show on April 24.

At the Coos County Rotary meeting Henry Spargo, 1952 March of Dimes chairman, presented Elton Schroeder with a March of Dimes check. The drive raised 14 443 81, with expenses 648 95, leaving 6 747 33 for the county and 6 747 33 for the national organization. Schroeder praised the effort as the largest collection in Coos County toward preventing polio and aiding afflicted children.
Lions Club agreed to underwrite 560 of the 2188 uniform cost to ensure Myrtle Point school band uniforms arrive in time for the May Spring Band Festival. The club had already donated 8400 of the 1700 raised. total cost listed as 2188. John J. Pickett, Coos County assistant district attorney, spoke on criminal procedure and constitutional rights at the meeting. Fred Gross and Russell Papineau were initiated as new members.
Dr. E. F. Huffaker retired University of Oregon finance expert will speak on Outlook for School Financing at the P T A meeting next Tuesday at 8 p m in the school’s multi purpose room. A question and answer session and slides will follow. Annual officer election and refreshments.
Freemasons welcomed the Grand Master with ceremonies and a scholarly address on Masonry. After the lodge, members adjourned to a banquet and recited year reports led by Frank Meldrum and Mrs Gordes with local honors noted.
