In Morthe ferns Tuesday Judge 1 presided over juvenile matters including Lawrence Cribbins of Aridge held on delinquency charges linked to school grounds and failure to heed parental watch. The court committed him to the Oregon State Training School with parole conditions supervised by his parents. Also involved were Fred Ehrig and others linked to bicycle thefts in South Myrtle. some youths were released to their parents after reprimands.

Mrs Launcelot LaFlamme of Willow Street received a Monday night letter from her son Kenneth Foot overseas in the UK. An engineer in Long Beach was downtown when tremors began as the quake moved through the area. The couple sheltered in place as brick pelted a car and a gas stove loosened, but their home sustained only minor damage and they slept afterward, the night’s tremors lingering in memory.
In Coquille a ceremony at the courthouse joined Selata Howe and Reavy Oberman. Parents Mr and Mrs Oscar Oberman and Everett Howe attended. Oberman came from Orkland, Dowseias county, ten years ago. Bride born in Anuwla. they will reside in Cortinate while German will oversee the creps.
Milton Haff was kicked by a mare while working on a barn. He suffered facial injuries and a broken toe, with bruises and a swollen leg. Medical help was provided and the incident was reported at press time.
County firemen from several towns gathered Monday in Myrtle Point for a district meeting. Chief of the local department opened proceedings and delegates discussed cooperation, incidents, and fire-line control with state and county officials, followed by roundtable talks and refreshments.

Don Andrew Zimm, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Burett Zimm of near Remote, died after falling about 40 feet while climbing trees at his grandmother’s home. He was taken to the hospital but died. Funeral held at Schroeder Funeral Home in Myrtle Point with Turner MacDonald in charge. Interment at Noway Cemetery. Pallbearers were high school students Dora La Branch, Vernon Shields, Avid Bryant, Glen Cribbins, Ralph Scarborough. Honorary pallbearers included Vern Knight and others. Born March 6, 1920 in Wayne county Oklahoma. leaves parents, grandparents, two brothers Ezra and Boris. Community extends sympathy.
Mrs Sarah Barkow visited as installing officer Mrs Arlene Hatfield district deputy acted as installer Mrs Barklow unable to attend January meeting due to illness to son in law W E Noah of Roseburg The visit marked her first trip to Myrtle Point since then Noah accompanied her to Mrs Clarence Butler home Myrtle Point Saturday night and she plans to stay a week or ten days Mrs Noah remains about the same.
The Lundy Cheese Factory patrons gathered Friday in Schroeder hall for their annual event. The young folks performed a program. refreshments included ice tea, cream, and cheese. Some attendees played cards and did jig saw puzzles while children played. Mr and Mrs Glenn Neideigh later danced.

Mart Carr, formerly of Myrtle Point, recalls improvements around Myrtle Point where her parents leased the Jake Strong ranch south of town.
Secretary Hal E. Hoss says Ward McReynolds, state examiner for operators and chauffeurs licenses, will be in Myrtle Point Friday, March 31, from 9 to 12 for tests. Raph Kring relays a March 10 letter from Mrs W A Van Antwerp of South Pasadena recounting a quake near Long Beach. She says 12:30 pm tremors continue, hospitals report rapid pneumonia deaths, and residents stay indoors to reduce loss. She attributes quakes to oil fields and notes the event as thrilling despite danger.
Mra Gus Dietz writes from Bremerton area describing injuries and a twisted home foundation after an earthquake. Dishes broke and canned goods spilled as the family slept on the lawn. cooler weather raised pneumonia risk and a wire trip downtown was avoided. Dietz hopes never to endure such an experience again.
Fire Marshal J M Sehon and Chuck Taylor from Salem visited Myrtle Point early this week to inspect unlawful fire hazards reported in the town's fire units.
Myrtle Point city council meeting held Tuesday night discussed hiring a night watchman and dog control ordinance after complaints of loose dogs damaging gardens. The council ordered the marshal to notify dog owners that action will be taken immediately to curb the problem.
Myrtle Point ex high school all stars defeated Powers Indep dents 52 to 24 Wednesday night. Lineups included Carver Mast Powrie Shelton Hubbard and Myers for Myrtle Point. The game followed by a separate Eugene at Marshfield match ended 47 to 11 with a 26 to 6 halftime score.

John Henry Carver and Eleanore Carver seek state permission to revert 5.81 acres in Township 29 Range 1 near Myrtle Point. They borrowed 2400 dollars from the World War Veterans State Aid commission to finance the purchase. Carver previously served as pastor of the Assembly of God church in Myrtle Point.
The U S government buys Block 32 in Breakwater subdivision at Bandon for 90 from Alex and June Barnekoft as prep for relocating the government lockout station from the bluff to the bar mouth.
County Treasurer Stauff predicts that warrants will not rise above five percent in the future if the governor signs the Duncen bill. The measure would let taxpayers pay all school, city, and county taxes with respective warrants under the new provisions.
H. A. Jackson of Gravelford was arrested in Myrtleinton on intoxication charges and sentenced to several days in jail, with commitment ordered.
Arch ie Button and Arthur Button both 17 were taken into custody on burglary charges connected to a Sea man cottage break in at Coos River about a month ago. A caretaker fired at the intruders and one youth later appeared claiming a spike injury to his foot from fleeing. He says he has stayed with relatives nearby since the robbery.
Clare McCulloch was sentenced on Tuesday to a $100 fine and one year in jail after being found guilty of driving while intoxicated.
Claude A. Gilmore, 42, was arraigned in Marshfield Justice Court on a charge of driving while intoxicated and without an operator's license. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $100.
A Coquille man, Stanley J Vowell, was spotted by a neighbor prowling a family home while they were away. Police found assorted items including light gloves on him. He waived preliminary hearing and posted $250 bail.
James W Button, age 335, of Bridge was arrested Monday by fire wardens on site per local enforcement records.
