Milton Hoffman in coma after horse kicking injury
Milton Hoffman suffered a severe skull fracture after being kicked by a horse last Thursday. He lapsed into unconsciousness Tuesday night and has remained in a coma. doctors from Myrtle Point and North Bend say brain damage is the cause. He showed brief recognition of relatives and slept naturally once, with little hope for recovery. Family members Walter Hoffman and Bradford Blake traveled to Arcata and Fortuna to be at his bedside.

Pioneer Dies at 77 at Bridge Ranch in Oregon
Richard Alonzo Cribbins died at 9 30 this morning after a three year illness at his Bridge home. Born July 24 1855 in Lane County Oregon he moved to Coos County at age ten. He married Frances Jane Ward in January 1882 and left eight children six survive plus 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral plans await word from Bend and burial is likely at Enchanted Prairie on his homestead with a Saturday funeral projected.

The damage suit of Mrs. Mary Kaine against the Coast Telephone company and Coos Bay Building corporation ended in a hung jury at midnight Saturday. Seven jurors favored the defendant while the plaintiff seeks 8369 in damages for a broken hip caused when a door allegedly swung on her in the Hall building office. The building owners’ claim of no liability was upheld, and the case against the building company was dismissed. No date set for a new hearing.
