George Downing reports on the Annual Golfers ceremony at Coquille Valley Country Club where about a hundred members and guests dined on ham and were honored with trophies for the Hot Shots of 1051. Jess Barton acted as toastmaster and Digger Dodge received runner-up trophies.
In a Coquille Valley ceremony, golfers led by Dodge, Harvey Myers, and Floyd Malljs were recognized. The award lineup included Downing, Dr. Rob, Loy, and Jack McLarrin, with the event highlighting top performers.
Golf club members and enthusiasts gathered at Anita to honor 15 trophy winners. Judge Jess Barton of Coquille distributed prizes after Bill Downing served as toastmaster, with a banquet by Buck Elliott and staff followed by dancing until 1 a.m. Lou Holiman won the club championship. Myrtle Point led the ladies with Mrs. Chet-Noyes as winner and Mrs. Glenn Patrick as runner-up.
City Council and Planning Commission discuss Ash Street upgrade at a Monday meeting attended by officials Shemmier Welter and others. Feb week completed. Other street schemes near the new school to serve about 65 families in Maryland area and beyond. Continued on Page Four.
Birever s Shoe Store operated by B en Daniels announces the installation of a new set of shoe repairing machines. The shop features a finisher sander trimmer sewing machine welt roller leather cutter and shaver. Daniels invites the public to see the modern equipment in action.
Bridge residents are invited to a dedication ceremony for the new multi purpose room at Bridge School on Friday night March 7 at 7 30 PM. Teachers and parents will host refreshments and a dance party to raise funds for the school.

The Adult Extension division of higher education in ra tion with Myrtle Point nion High school offers education 460 mental hygiene at the high school on Monday March 17 at 7 00 p m. Interested adults may attend and register for psychology 411 g with Dr John Schulz associate professor of psychology at 8 O C E from Ashland as instructor. The class is open to the public and registration requires the regular fee.
Myrtle Point high school expects 47 Bobcats for the 1952 track season. Seven lettermen join 40 other athletes under assistant coach Dale Bunnell to challenge district foes. The schedule runs from April 5 Roseburg to May 16 state meet at Corvallis with key meets at Coos Bay North Bend and Eugene.

Red Cross workers in Myrtle Point gather at the Myrtle hotel dining room for a Tuesday morning kick off breakfast led by drive chairman Ross. The annual drive begins Thursday at 3 o clock with volunteers canvassing businesses and homes to raise Coos County’s quota. Ross urges helpers to cover their districts and notes nationwide and local volunteers donate time to support the humanitarian effort.
More than 100 Masons attended the annual Past Masters night of Arene Lodge No 78 A F and AM at the local Masonic Temple last Thursday. Distinguishing guests included District Deputy Grand Master Lester Coats of Coos Bay, L Shaffer master of Coquille Ron Riley master of Bandon lodge and 35 past masters with 14 from out of town. A 6:30 banquet preceded the meeting where speakers included Mr Coats and Claude Giles of Coos Bay. The Master Mason degree was exemplified for two candidates William Knight and James Bagley.
The Inter-church Fellowship will meet at the Methodist church on Monday night March 1 for a potluck supper at 7:00. A recent church movie, For Good or Evil, will be shown. All are urged to attend. Youth Fellowship will not meet this Monday night.
Myrtle Point High Band seeks $900 to complete payment for 53 uniforms ordered for the May hand festival. The funds are urgently needed as the uniforms are badly required, with the ETA now on hand. The group recognizes booster help from Mrs Jehan Rankin and others including Schreeder and Mewe as key supporters.
