End of era as Powers line disbands after 60 years
The Powers railroad built 1912 to 1914 by Smith Powers is torn up after Pacific Mates Coos Bay Lumber and Georgia Pacific ownership changes. GP cites dwindling timber supply and tax costs. the line served logging and transport to Powers town before newer roads and bridges replaced it.
