Residents and travelers commend the state highway crew under Mr Mayer for tireless work clearing slides on Highway 42. A Greyhound trip to Portland saw two trucks yield to a bus as the crew’s dedication and punctuality were praised by drivers and locals alike.
The Junior Class presents a three act farce titled The Cannibal Queen to be shown Friday night March 13 at the high school auditorium. The plot centers on Mrs Craig Bruce Clyde editor seeking sensational news with Brenda Day aiming for a lead role while Allen Kent returns from the Solomons with a supposed Cannibal Queen.
Hoyt Jersey Cow owner H. Hoyt of Sitkum Route Myrtle Point reports a Jersey cow achieving a herd improvement registry production record of 12032 pounds milk and 658 pounds butterfat at age 3 years 11 months. The record, made by Royal Busts Dawn, was supervised by Oregon State College for the American Jersey Cattle Club with the Jersey breed registry in Columbus Ohio. On a mature 305 day twice daily milking basis the equivalent is 12814 pounds milk and 701 pounds butterfat.

Ernest F. Clausen of Broad Bend is selected to create a setting for the queen's study for the British Council of Los Angeles at the California International Flower Show at Hollywood Park Inglewood on March 14. The setting aims to promote the June coronation to flower show attendees. Ernest works for Barker Bros. in Los Angeles.
The Arago Community church begins an evangelistic campaign Sunday evenings at 7 45 with services nightly except Saturday from March 8 through the 22nd Rev Harry A Sprague of Upland California linked to the Fuller Evangelistic Foundation will lead the meetings Mrs Sprague will play the vibra harp and sing good hymns and special numbers An invitation is extended to all.

COGUILLE March 2 Special Judge Das M King of the Circuit notified County Saturday that the Monday trial of the $100 emene sult with Irene Billingsley as plaintiff and Ardyce Christensen of Myrtle Point as defendant would not be tried because the case was settled out of court. Mrs Vaughn notified the jury panel. The first trial resulted in a hung jury. settlement amount not disclosed.

Jack R. Ryder U S N arrives at Pearl Harbor after five months abroad reporting from Myrtle Point. He meets his brother George E. Ryder USN aboard USS Deliver ARS 23 stationed at Pearl Harbor. They tour the islands and visit friends while ships prepare for upcoming missions. Jack sails for San Diego on February 21, arriving February 27. George expects to proceed to Korea soon.
