In Bandon and Coquille officers are named, detailing past aid after the Bandon fire with total Red Cross relief reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars and a building transfer to the city.

The Oregon Society for Crippled Children and Adults sponsors the annual Easter Seal Sale running March 5 to April 5. It supports services for clients unable to get aid elsewhere, including a hospital school in Eugene for crippled children from over 20 counties and a Portland craft shop selling handiwork, along with medical, surgical, and speech assistance.
The Organized Church of Elder George A. Njeim of Syria will speak at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from March 1 to March 11. Elder Coffman announced the visit with talks on topics including Sacrament of the Lord's Supper and The Hope of Renewal. Services are Sunday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and weekday sessions at 8 p.m.
Russell Papineau announces a formal opening of the Lazy Vee lounge at the Myrtle Hotel Saturday night February 28. Extensive remodeling joins the lounge to the Coffee Shop with Western style decor, mural, and lettering by Mrs. Papineau. New electric equipment and a complete kitchen renovation aim to attract more visitors and boost the city.
Coos County earns notoriety as the softest touch for passing bad checks. District Attorney Pickett notes lax checks attract convicts, yet officials pledge prosecution for intentional overdrafts or forgeries. Authorities seek to identify offenders at the scene and enforce accountability.

About thirty volunteers of the Ground Observer Corps met Friday to view Sky Watch work and hear Lt. Guon and Sgt. Bradley of the U S Air Force Defence Command. The group, based at the Filter Center in Portland, discussed operations and recruiting for a ground observer corps in mountainous areas.
At the state board meeting in Salem February 14 15 Mrs Downing was nominated finance chairman a position she has held the past year. Attending delegates from the Southwestern district included Mrs Myers who will attend a conference near Coos Bay March 5th.
The American Legion and Auxiliary district conference will be held Sunday March 8 at the Kan Le hall in Coos Bay. Registration occurs before sessions as attendees gather for the artillery and American Legion events.
