A fragmented wartime notice states mail delivery at the west side seed on the east hall of Avate 65 will not occur until a return trip is completed. The garbled text mentions a delivery halt and reference to a state mall. No clear dates or entities are identifiable.
The damage suits of W R Wann and wife against Paul Stephan of a Bandon bakery settled out of court after an auto wreck in which Mrs Wann was seriously injured. The proceedings also mention judgments and probate actions involving local banks, estates, and road establishment orders in Cedar County.
Lions Club plans fifth annual Fun Fest at Norway tomorrow night starting with a 7 30 dinner served at tasteful tables. The program follows with vaudeville skits impersonations and vocal numbers. Herman Tedsen promises premier entertainment for Coos County and invites all members and friends to attend.
This week begins a series of weekly contests at Guy's Bowling Alley with a Indian blanket laprobe prize each week. Contests close with final play Sunday evening and winners are announced before midnight. Guy Button, proprietor, plans more amusements and a ladies day feature to be added weekly soon. Tournament plans involve local organizations and individual members across groups.
Reports from the eighth national 4-H Canning contest list winners in gold medals and scholarships. Isabel Travin, 17, Sun River Montana, led with 1720 pints in a four year record. Jan Menuk of Cantonville Connecticut earned a $200 prize for 3223 pints. Tanner Car of Cod dard received a $100 scholarship for 2000 pints.
Among 398 graduates in the 7th annual Oregon State College commencement were seven from Coos County. Oregon officials attended including Chancellor Frederick M Hunter and Dr W J Kerr. Coos graduates listed include Arago Edwin Gustave Kellner and others in agriculture, secretarial science, education, engineering, pharmacy, and more.
Roderic Barklaw of MPHS has been awarded a scholarship to Willamette University for the coming year. A four year student, he was a straight A honor student a debate letterman and president of the student body. He represented the school in literary speaking and was active in dramatics.
Through a recent deal the W Wilson Service Station is leased by Ray Rookard. The auto sales agency In con jon is managed by L. T renbush. Rookard has moved his family to Myrtle Point and now lives in the Portis apartments.
The Townsend club at Myrtle Point Oregon announced a nationwide Fourth of July picnic and mass meeting at Bandon Park with Frank Hillon of Portland as speaker. Lee Ray won the delegate berth to the National Townsend convention in Cleveland.
The Transcontinental Trek starts Saturday at the North Bend community building. The race runs coast to coast with daily walking distances and 24 hour access. Manager Jimmy Johnson provides a five piece band and vaudeville show for contestants and attendees, plus nightly speed events and derbies.
Miss Ruth Waters daughter of Mr and Mrs B O Waters of Ridgefield Wash wed Norman James son of Mr and Mrs Wilton James of Myrtle Point Friday night at 8 in the Brethren church Portland. Eld J W Barnett officiated with Esther Hubbard singing I Love You Truly and Helen Alstrom playing the wedding march.
Word reached 58 Reed of Twin Oaks that his sister Mrs Florence Crawford of Portland died there Saturday from a heart attack. Crawford was well known in this section, having lived here for several years. Reed left Tuesday for Portland to attend the funeral held Wednesday.

A series of June marriages and licenses are recorded in Coquille and surrounding towns. Aubrey Davison and Esther Bickel of Fig Garden wed June 16 in Coquille with Rev Wilder. Elma Russell of North Bend and Adam Donaldson Jr. of Marshfield tied the knot June 16 at the bride's parents home. Others include Thurstan Jacobson and Ethel Potts, Max Britton and Jewell Cochran, Geogel Delp and Annie Farleign, Donald G McGilvery and Edith Gibson, Stanley Warren and Olive Stewart, Linyd Messerle and Ada Spaght, Arthur Stacy and Elvera Blackburn, with licenses issued June 17–20 in local offices and at homes.
A quiet ceremony took place Sunday June 21 in Coquille with Justice J J Stanley officiating. Miss Dulcie Foote daughter of Mrs A L Powrie of Myrtle Point married Lews Donaldson of Powers. Attendants included Mr and Mrs Lawrence Hatcher and Miss Geraldine Minard of Coquille and Mrs L Pawrie and Mrs John Belieu of Myrtle Point. The bride wore a white silk suit with matching accessories. Mrs Donaldson, Myrtle Point High School graduate of 1932, and the groom, once at Coquille then Powers, are planning to live in Powers where he is employed.
Jack LeFevre of Coquille slipped while timber cruising near Sitkum and fell into a crevice between rock walls. He remained trapped all Saturday and Sunday, then climbed out 20 feet using salmon berry bushes. He spent Sunday night in the woods and returned home Monday noon, exhausted and hungry.
A letter from Elmer R. Goudy, head of the state relief committee, reshapes eligibility for families with employed members. Such cases now go to the U S Employment Service for verification and may only continue aid if the service confirms no work is available or provides details of a prospective job. Public assistance scarce when employment is available, with exceptions for qualifying need.
Charles Pat Brodrick Moller known as Pat died Tuesday night after a sudden illness following a long shift for the beer and food dispensers convention. He lived in Myrtle Point for 16 years and had previously led a Fitch farm and local fire department service. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 PM in Myrtle Point with burial in the Peterson family plot.
Richard Brown of Bandon working for Sykes and McNair at Eckley camp was struck by a haul back line Wednesday. Schroeder's ambulance was called for treatment.
Union High School district No. 2 Myrtle Point held its annual meeting Monday afternoon. Henry Hervey of Lee was elected director after a five year term. Other board members include Mrs. Mabel Barlow, Paul Brewer, H D Benes, A H Bender and Fred True. Voters authorized the district to use school property to build its own athletic facility. Two new teachers were hired.
Camp Bradford has completed winter projects near Diamond Lake. Oregon boys under Dan K. Plowman built seven miles of surfaced truck trails and opened five miles of abandoned roads to access cut over lands. They felled snags along the Coos Bay highway to reduce fire risk and improved telephone links between lookout towers.
