Frances E Wyman of Charleston married Lawrence Alfred Harvey of Richmond California at noon Sunday. Dr T M White officiated. Attendants included Mrs L P Harvey Jr and Earle Younker. Reception at the Jack and Jill followed, then the couple departed for their new home in Richmond.

J E Leclere of Los Angeles Calif became the new owner of the Hat cher general store at Bridge Leclere will continue the business with the same merchandise but plans to stock more diy goods and remodel the quarters The Hat cher store was originally a partnership under Shidhda and Matcher but the Hat cher heirs bought out the other partner in 1931 Hiram Hatcher died in 1933 since then his widow Mrs Hatcher and daughter Mae have operated the store Leclerc left for Los Angeles with his wife and child and Mrs Hatcher and daughter will manage the store for now The Hatchers plan to travel this weekend and reside in a small house on Spruce and C streets
The Lions Club announces its fifth annual picnic for Friday June 26 at Nor wavy with dinner at 7:30. Hermar Tedsen heads the event with JH McCloskey Heenan Detlefaen overseeing refreshments. Entertainment by Powers vind Woo Homes features Eu gene Laird and Jesse Clinton publicity led by Ted Wheeler. A late note adds Ted Wheeler for a multi act program including a negro impersonator. the Wilson sisters and Wheeler will perform as well. Tickets distributed among members and Lions plus male guests urged to attend.
John D Culbertson aged about 66 died of a heart attack at his Bald Hill home Saturday. Born in Virginia on Sept 19 1800 he came west at 14 and lived in Colfax before moving to Coos county in 1882 later marrying Mary Jackson of Gravelford. He left a widow two living children Elizah Culbertson and Mrs A N Mullin, three other children and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the J D Culbertson home and graveside rites followed at the family cemetery.

Mrs H C Van Alstein of Bridge and Mr and Mrs Otto Davis of Myrtle Point attended Grand Lodge events in Portland last Wednesday. Mrs Van Alstein joined her daughter Marjorie at a Portland school of music where a tea honored Polish pianist Meriviteh bound for a summer master course. Marjorie will study in Merivitehs class this summer and Miss Van Alstein shows strong progress in music and composition.
Miss Dori Kony daughter of Mr and Mrs FE M Kay of Coquille and Shirley Laird son of Mr and Mrs Joe Laird of Myrtle Point united in marriage at a Vancouver ceremony. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Richard Arnold of Myrtle Point and the groom’s mother Mrs Ore Laird. The bride wore a brown and green suit with sweet pea corsage. After the ceremony the couple went to Portland for a wedding dinner and Rose Festival attendance. they will live at the Sykes and McNair fogging camp where the groom is employed.
Myrtle Point City Council met Monday night at city hall with Mayor Kring and council members Barker Brewer and Sumerlin present. Huttons bowling alley license extended three months. Council declined to recommend a bulk form beer license for Safeway Stores. A candy company was denied approval to install punchboards. Lots 1 2 and 8 in block W of the extension of Border and Erenders addition were sold to Mrs Dal King for 2006.
Two eastern Coos county graduates were among 467 seniors at the University of Oregon honored in graduation ceremonies June 1. Andrew John Newhouse earned a bachelor of science in law, belonged to Theta Chi, and Phi Beta Kappa. son of E C and Mrs Newhouse of Broadbent, Myrtle Point High School. Donald Haines Farr earned a bachelor of science in business administration, member of Beta Gamma Sigma, and held several campus offices. son of C C and Mrs Farr of Coquille, and a Coquille High School graduate.
Miss Genevie Barkinow daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Barklow of West Norway wed Eldred Wilder of Grants Pass in a June 1936 ceremony at Elder A A Baker home. Attendants were Ray Barkiow, the bride’s brother. The couple will reside with the bride’s parents. the groom works at Powers.
John Grove was taken into custody Saturday by Officer Bert Pearson on a disorderly charge. Arn old C Grove was also taken into custody on a drunkenness charge on the same day. Both are from Sitkum and forfeited bail. Patricia H Everett was arrested Saturday by Bert Pearson on a traffic charge. She forfeited her bail and was released.
A Gaylord couple traveling home from Roseburg were in a Sunday wreck at Camas Valley. Both were unharmed though their car suffered heavy damage.
Townsendites hear a report from the Salem state meeting with delegates W Lee Ray and Mrs. Ray. The Sun day gathering features singing, solos, duets, readings, and a piano violin program by local residents before concluding with the Townsend pledge.

Edith Jackson of Dora was found dead in her bathtub, apparently for 24 hours or more, with no sign of foul play. Neighbors noted she had recent financial worries, and a stroke is considered possible by relatives. funeral arrangements set for Tuesday at 1:30 p m with burial at Dora cemetery.
The WCTU holds a meeting today at the home of Mrs. Les ter Gibson at the Assembly of God parsonage. All members are urged to attend.
Work started Monday on a new wider bridge at Arago after a pile driver arrived Saturday. The two lane structure will replace the old one way crossing, improving safety in winter and wet or frosty conditions for the community.

Horace Berry fell about 15 feet from rotten planks on the old splash dam near his Fairview home Sunday. He crawled from the river, drove to Coquille, and received hospital treatment for a fractured heel. he was alone at the time of the accident.
A large turnout at the Catching Creek cemetery chapel last Saturday elected permanent officers: J. L. Rema president H. F. E. Glazier vice president Homer Alford director Mrs Carl Bushnell secretary and treasurer Ora Marsters Carl Bushnell and George Ward as trustees. The group plans a cleanup day at the cemetery this coming Saturday with a picnic dinner.
A Fairview player sustained injuries after a fall during play. Reports say the incident left the player with a cut upper and two others knocked out as the game progressed, with several participants affected.

A quiet ceremony was held Saturday morning at Dr. T M White’s home on Spruce street. Miss Thelda Miller of Myrtle Point married Walter Dunham of Powers with only Mrs. Ethel Miller as attendant. The bride, educated in Myrtle Point and a 194 class graduate, marked the family milestone.
The West Coast Telephone Co announces a temporary suspension of service connection and installation charges from June 14 through June 30. Orders placed in the period will receive installation without these charges, with staff actively taking orders and answering questions about service details.
