The Myrtle Point chamber of commerce hosts Flags Flying Downtown and Farmer's Day with events Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A pancake feed starts the day, a milk outdo contest by Mayor Curt Beckham draws crowds, cheese factory tours run 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and an antique car show begins 10 a.m. on Saturday with cars from across the state. Live music and an all day radio broadcast accompany the festivities.

Western Auto to Rebuild and Expand Store

Federal Funds Approved for Oregon River Projects
The House Appropriations Committee approved 41.286 million dollars on June 17 for Corps of Engineers and Reclamation projects in Oregon. Congressman Robert B. Duncan emphasized that while the amount aids flood control and navigation in Southwestern Oregon, it does not fully meet the peak needs. Allocations include 9600,000 for Roquue River rehabilitation and 10,000 for Coquille River investigation, 20,000 for Coos Bay harbor study, 96,000 for Rogue River navigation at Gold Beach, and 93,000 for Siuslaw River study.
