Local Happenings Busy Week of Visits and Travel

Mrs Louise Erickson and Miss Dorothy Erickson visited Monday evening with Rev ind Mrs Hugh Mitchelmere in Moro on vacation en route from Spokane to Berkeley. Mrs. Erickson and Dorothy were weekend visitors at the Warren Deyoe home. La Verne McCracken returned to Portland to continue nursing studies with one year remaining. The William Bell family moved onto their newly purchased Eighth street property. Several trips and visits across Oregon and California are noted including Crater Lake, San Francisco, Eureka, and various coastal communities.

Local Band Practice Formed Under High School Music Instructor

Theodore P Haberly directs a newly organized band of local musicians at the high school. The first Tuesday session drew 12 current band members and five graduates. Any instrument players are invited to join, with practice at 8 o’clock each Tuesday evening in the high school.

Robert Belloni son of M and Mr John Bellon of this city recently won his numeral in track at the University of Oregon He won the 220 yard low hurdles in the Oregon USC frosh meet and placed second in the 120 yard high hurdles Bellon will act as scoutmaster of the local troop during the summer months in place of W E Gurney

Bridge Civic Club Opens Library

The Bridge Civic Club held its regular meeting at the new clubhouse on Tuesday. Officers were reelected and elected: Mrs John Dunckley as president, Mrs Arthur Hillabold as vice president, and Mrs Albert Pancoast as secretary and treasurer with installation next meeting. The library will open to the public Friday. hours are Wednesday 2 to 4 pm and Tuesdays and Fridays 7 to 8 pm. about 18 members attended and silver tea followed on Mrs Murphys lawn hosted by Mrs Hillabold and Mrs Roy Doney.

Local hunter reports cougar damage and pursuit on Sixes

Cougars killed seven sheep owned by H. B. Steiner on the Sixes Saturday night. He called L. A. Cherem of Myrtle Point to bring dogs and trap the animals. Trail slowed by rain but dogs closed in within about nine hours.

Dance Night at New IV Hall Promises Music and Supper

Saturday evening in June a dance will be held in the new IV hall with a band providing music and various specialties for the evening. Lunches will be served at the counter and ample space for cars is available.
