Father and Son Banquet Held by Myrtle Point Chamber
A Father and Son banquet sponsored by the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce was held at 7 pm Tuesday in the Presbyterian church social parlor. 63 fathers and sons attended. Elton Schroeder acted as host master. A men's quartet performed Down South Cornfield Melodies and Auf Wiedersehen with Raleigh Greene Durward Drumliner Clarence Church and Theodore Hatherily Pat Hennessy of Powers sang Carnival of Venice. Speakers included P Linn J Belloni Edgar Rickard and grandfathers Jesse Clinton W Baynes W Doman district Scout executive. A court of honor recognized Donald Endicott and Byron Van Alstain for lifesaving efforts with hopes for national medals. Boy Scout awards included Star Scouts Lyle Olson Forrest LaFlamme Robert Peel and Glen Olson tenderfoot Rex Stevens David Levison Tommy Perkins Forrest LaFlamme Robert Peel and Lyle Olson merit badges for scholarship and first aid Forrest La Flamme first class Donald Endicott and Richard Pointer second award.

Two Arrests in County Seat Forgery Case
Marshfield police jailed a man under the alias Walter Greeniee then learned his real name James Walter Greenlee, wanted in Mississippi for murder. His accomplice Robert Burrwill Owens also faced forgery charges after passing two bogus checks totaling $21.80 linked to George Gilman of Coquille. Greenlee confessed to crimes and was held on forgery with $10,000 bail. Owens received a separate forgery charge.

Woman Hurt in Sandy Creek Logging Truck Crash
Early Tuesday evening a logging truck owned by C W Cline Logging of Corvallis and operated by Bill Westrope veered off Sandy Creek. Miss Lois Nichols leaped from the vehicle, suffering a broken pelvis and internal injuries, while Westrope was uninjured.
