The Coos Curry Pioneers and His tunical Association will hold its regular meeting Saturday June 14 at 1 pm at the North Bend museum. Georges Vaughn will feature the spel donkel engine donated by his father William Vaughan in 1950 now on permanent display. Mrs James Maple reports on a Jacksonville museum visit. Coffee and cake will follow.
Elden Scoop Brodie, mayor of Myrtle Point, was installed last Wednesday as president of the Myrtle Point Lions Club by District Governor Larry Sheehan of Roseburg. Other officers include Chucks Humble secretary Craig Olsen treasurer Ben Daniels first vice president Art Henry second vice-president Al Wyld and Bob.
The Broadbent Grange announces a work party for installing a TV translator on Twin Oaks road this Saturday June 14. A tree will be topped and guy wires installed. The Home Economics club will provide lunch and welcomes volunteers.
Kenneth W Ford of Roseburg buys the entire Coquille Plywood facilities including the Bandon Veneer plant from Textron Inc. The new firm to operate the plant is the Douglas Fir Plywood Company with Ford as president, announced with George A. Alett present.
Pacific Power & Light formed with seven Western utilities to form the Rocky Mountain Pacific Power Research Group to study converting nuclear fission energy into electricity. The two year multi million dollar program includes General Dynamics and focuses on gas cooled reactors and thermoelectric generation with sites near the Hanford Works in Washington.
