Members of the Coos Curry Pioneer and Historical Association meet at the museum in North Bend on Saturday June 13 at 1 00 p m. All interested invited cake served by Coquille Valley women. Plans for July picnic and a report on the Centennial Exposition opening and Myrtle tree display by Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce.

Myrtle Point Garden Club hosted its 1st annual flower show in Myrtle Point last weekend drawing over 250 attendees. Exhibits featured roses and a wide array of blooms, with door prizes from Griffin Farm Supply and Lee Valley Gardens. Award ribbons highlighted Mrs Francis Floyd for most blue ribbons and Mrs Lloyd Huntley for an arrangement ribbon. Winners include Mrs Francis Floyd, Mr F L Mollon-Pecony, Mrs H H Thomas, Mrs T G Sumerlin, Dr Brown, Mrs P F Bartlett, Mrs Lloyd Huntley, Mrs George McClellan, and Mrs Rudy Rochek.
A 200 member farm study party sponsored by radio station WFAA Dallas Texas will visit the Oregon Centennial Exposition late in June. The tour includes Texas ranchers and farmers, both men and women. The group has bought 186 tickets. Murray Cox, farm service director of WFAA, will lead the party.
Ashland Ore June 6 Harold Francis Vrooman of Myrtle Point earned a bachelor of science degree at the 33rd annual commencement in Lithia Park. The ceremony honored graduates on Sunday May 31, with special coverage from Southern Oregon College.
The On Stage Dancing Studio of North Bend presents Aladin at Marshfield High School Auditorium Coos Bay on Saturday night June 13 at 8 pm. Myrtle Point participants include Sandra Schafer Vickie and Debbie Abel.
Warren Rema discovers a weathered tusk believed to be prehistoric on Catching Creek. Henry A. Schroeder delivers the fossil to the Coost Museum where it measures about one foot long, four inches in diameter and ten inches in circumference.
The American Legion resumes junior Legion baseball with four games at the local field. Coach Ted Owens invites more boys to join as turnout has been light this summer. Games are scheduled for 3 00 PM on June 23 and July 7 at the severe field.
Serial 8 continues with pioneers facing early hardships as Baltimore colonists arrive in Coquille Valley. Port Orford scene shows deserted shops, wooden plank roads to the wharf, and remnants of prosperity after troops left. Captain William Tichenor, noted Seagull captain and local leader, is highlighted before a continuation on page seven.
