Government buys manganese chrome ore stockpile near Coquille
A. E. Borel the government buying agent announced a new rule permitting purchases of chrome and manganese ore with content as low as 35 percent down from 40. The stockpile location is Pete Johnson place near Coquille on the Marshfield highway and railroad. Delivery requires a minimum ten tons per producer with ore unloaded at the stockpile and weighed on the state scale. Readiness is growing as weather improves and shipments are expected from the south and Curry county. Supervising engineer Borel will be at the scales south of town or at the stockpile north of town or at 4408 Coulter St Coquille telephone 14-R.

Congress Passes Two Year Suspension of Mining Claim Assessments
A bill approved by both houses and signed by the President suspends annual assessment work on mining claims for two years from July 1, 1941, to July 1, 1948. The Myrtle Point school board met Monday night at the Junior high building and awarded all grade and high school teachers a $50 bonus in addition to their regular salaries for the past year. Chairman Howard Whitaker said next year’s salaries will be about 10 percent higher. The board awarded a painting contract for the grade school to Frank Freeman. Earl Adams sold a 300 acre ranch on Catching Creek to Harvey Williams of Marshfield who will commute from the Pearce garage for care.
