Sugar for Canning Registration Opens in Myrtle Point

First sugar for canning registration held at city hall with Austin Dodge directing the effort. A second session is scheduled at city hall from 1 to 5 today, with weekly registrations every Thursday afternoon. Maximum allowance is one pound per quart of fruit plus one pound per family member for jams and jellies, less any sugar already on hand. Many residents, listed by name and quartage, registered, including Tom Guerin, Ralph Whitaker, Charles Rackleff, Milton Epperson, and scores more from Broadbent, Reedsport, and surrounding areas.

No Fireworks Prohibited Across Oregon Under Wartime Edict

General DeWitt orders statewide ban on sale and use of fireworks and similar explosives. Police and sheriffs directed to detain violators and turn them over to military authorities if local laws are insufficient. Prohibition covers all areas including roadside stands and held over stock.

Druggists Meet In Portland Planned For June 1919

The Oregon State Pharmaceutical Association announces its 1919 Portland meeting with E. O Sempert as president. Attendees include Mrs Sempert and several Coos County druggists. The program schedules business sessions Thursday and Friday morning, a golf tournament at Portland Golf Club on Friday afternoon, and a banquet with a floor show and formal dance Friday night.

First Aid Class Starts at Junior High

A new first aid class began Wednesday evening at the Junior High school with three men and 12 women enrolled. Instructor Ora Johnson reports the standard course is being given with classes every Wednesday from 7 to 9 30. There is still room for more participants. see Mrs. Johnson for details.

RNA Convention Draws Large Myrtle County Attendance

The twenty legend annual RNA convention in Myrtle County closed Tuesday night at the Junior high school auditorium with over one hundred in attendance. Officers elected include Mollie Stevens Powers as county oracle and Ruby Johnson Coquille as vice oracle. A school of instruction and memorial services followed a day of activities, with a banquet and an ambulance drill as highlights.
