The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce inspected the city’s new water filtration plant, atop the hill east of town, during a Tuesday noon meeting. Superintendent Jack Moffitt explained the plant’s operation, noting it has been in service since June 1 at about 135000 dollars, filtering roughly 1.1 million gallons daily with a 2 million gallon daily capacity.

Crew included Forrests 17 year old son David. report reaches Tom Forrest family Sunday.
Hiland Theatre will show the Patterson Johansson title bout on Sunday and Monday nights. Promoter Irvin Wilberger notes the match pits Floyd Patterson against Ingemar Johansson, who seeks to extend an unbroken 21 win streak into the title defense.
Roger Weed of Myrtle Point Oregon was named among 65 outstanding musicians from Oregon Washington and California at the Fir Acres High School Music Workshop hosted by Lewis and Clark College Portland The three week session ended with a public concert on July 17 Weed played cornet in the band orchestra and chorus under directors John K Richards Eugene Kaza and L Stanley Glarum
A morning log dump caused a traffic tie up around Spruce Street heading west for about 45 minutes. Nineteen loads of logs and passenger cars stalled, with the line stretching back to 8th Street at the Highway 42 turn.

The third producer sponsored feeder and fat lamb sale at the Coos County Fairgrounds Myrtle Point July 13 saw 35 consignors pool 2500 lambs. Prices lagged year ago due to a recent market drop with ewe lambs from 68 to 74 pounds bringing 18.25 to 19.04 per hundred and overall sale grossing 29106 dollars. Auctioneers and extension staff listed include Bruce Brahs S and A Jackson Landers and Waterman.
National Farm Safety Week proclaimed by the president for July 1925 with Oregon recognizing the observance. Mary Susan Sinko of Arago has won a partial tuition scholarship for 1959 60 at Oregon State College. Sinko, a sophomore in the school of education, was selected from the state system of higher education for the $168 grant to support worthy students in completing their education. Elton Schroeder family joined the Vick Elwain family for a Sunday visit at their Lakeside summer home.
Centennial officials announced the new picnic area on the Oregon Centennial Exposition grounds ready for families visiting the exposition. Located west of the Forest building it features fifty tables for over 300 people a water fountain and a machine selling cold drinks.
