A rambling column notes a remote driver crashed into a parking space, the car climbing an outside stairway and wrecking steps and a porch. The piece also lampoons fishing derbies, Oregon Game Commission stance, and local readers’ reactions to a moustache shave dare.
The Myrtle Point Lions club held a Mauna beach picnic with Hawaiian music and swimming races. The main highlight was a hula dance by Mrs. Art Henry and Mrs. Jentix, recent visitors to the islands.
The body of Robert Earl Gray 33 manager of Eatons Feed Coquille was found Thursday three miles east of Sitkum in a wooded area by brothers Loren and Vernon Gray of Coos Bay after a weeklong search. Police officials say death may be suicide or accidental with autopsy pending. He is survived by his widow two daughters and several relatives. Funeral services were held in Coos Bay.
The City Council calls for bids on sale of $100,000 sewage disposal bonds to fund the city sewage disposal plant and intercepting sewer system. Payments schedule runs through 1973 with annual amounts listed, voters authorized the bonds in February. At present the city has no bonded indebtedness.
Elton Schroeder Coos county chair of the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis reports a plan to inoculate 1 200 000 children nationwide with a new polio vaccine. Basil O’Conner NFIP president announced the test at a San Francisco workshop of over 200 county chairmen. The March of Dimes campaign will finance the effort, with dates to be announced after the new year.
At a San Francisco meeting, Mr. Schroeder stated no polio vaccines are ready for this summer and gamma globulin remains in critically short supply. He warned polio may pose similar problems as in the recent past. Continued on Page Four.
Harold Clarno of the Coos county fair board says visitors will need sleeping rooms during the fair week starting August 13. Myrtle Hotel office handles names for available rooms as hotel rooms are fully booked. private residences, apartments and rooming houses are urged to cooperate for August 10 through August 16.

At Coquille Valley Golf and Country Club a meeting led by Lou Holiman as chairman and Parm Patrick as secretary approved new out-of-bounds rules and lowered par for women. Men keep par 34 for nine holes and 68 for 18. ladies change from 35 to 36 on nine holes and from 70 to 72 on 18. New score cards are printing for weekend use. Discussion included the dusty road between the highway and course, used by logging trucks, needing oiling and county action.

Four Myrtle Point youths aged 16 and 17 appeared before Juvenile Judge J Morrison in Coquille on July 14. They were sentenced to 30 days in the juvenile jail with possible suspension of half the term for good behaviour and ordered to reimburse property owners at least 1000 dollars for damages from a series of thefts and vandalism across Coos Bay Broadbent and surrounding areas.

At the Rotary club dinner last Thursday President Spennyv Ross announced yearlong committee appointments. Committees split into five sections Club Service Vocational Service Community Service International Service and Club Projects with named directors chairs and project focuses listed.
The city will require uniform house numbers by August 1. Residents may buy numbers from local merchants or at the city recorder's office. City Recorder Perkins can provide numbers if needed, and Mayor Dunn says numbers must be installed by the deadline or the city will install them and bill the property owner.
