They followed Eckley mountain road, noting Hoffman had not seen the route since 1986 when it was a trail he rode then. He formerly drove cattle through the area and remarked on new brush and timber growth since his last visit.
Mrs. Lawrence Haughton driving a heavy sedan lost control on the Rossburg highway near the county line when a trailer swerved and pulled the car over a 23 foot embankment. The brakes prevented major damage. occupants were taken to A R Davenport’s home for a visit and the car to Myrtle Point.
Clinton Heaters Auntie Mr Clinton and La Velle Heater married Saturday at a ceremony conducted by Rev G A Gray of Coquille. The groom, son of Riley Clinton of Coquille, runs a fur farm at Johnsons Mill and scales logs for Johnson and Empire mills. The bride grew up near Newburg and is linked to Marshfield via relatives. The couple held a private reception at their Johnsons Mill home Tuesday night.

The annual Norway county picnic was held near the court in Norway Friday evening. Awards given included bottles of soda, gooseberries, and candy bars for events like backward-running races, foot races, leap frog, and a pop drinking speed record. Harold Varney, E. L. Vinton, Miss Laura McLeod, Miss Margarita Agostino, and Miss Frances Oddy were among prize recipients.
School nurse Mrs Ethel Littler of Powers was rushed to Mast hospital this morning in serious condition with an internal abscess. An emergency major abdominal operation was performed shortly before noon, and she was reported to be rallying as of the latest bulletin.
