Logging Sides Cut in Coos Bay Timber Operations
Coos Bay timber company trims logging sides from six to four and halts cutting crews in Bone Mountain Sixes Eden Ridge areas. Harry Hubbell of Myrtle Point reports 18 to 20 men laid off on Eden Ridge and Rock Creek sides, with about 10 more per area on cutting crews. He hopes curtailment is temporary for about a month as over supply of logs from a Bunker Hill mill fire prompted the move.

Fires Reported by Forest Protective Association Crews
The Forest Protective Association with 20 workers fought two Saturday fires in the area. One blaze hit a Salmon Gulch construction site near Bridge, the other a sawdust fire near Norway. A larger blaze burned this week near Gold Beach on Hunter Creek, reportedly consuming houses and a log deck.
